How the Cover Image is Displayed

1. Is there a way to display the cover picture exactly the same way it is displayed when editing a post. Meaning the picture is viewable on the top and sides but it is behind the article (post) body?

2. If that is not possible, can the picture be displayed in a smaller resolution? Maybe you could allow me to select the resolution size as a setting like I can when I insert a picture in to a post as a block.
