We are happy to announce another great release of EasyBlog version 3.9! In this release, we have added tons of new and exciting features for better blogging in Joomla! and most importantly, integrations with the all new EasySocial, in the following areas:

  • Album Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Profile & Avatar Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Activity Stream Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Live Notifications with EasySocial.
  • Badge Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Points Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Friends & Followers Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Blog Privacy Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Import and Export Settings.
  • Pin to top featured blogs.
  • Company postings on LinkedIn.
  • Enhancements on pending blog management.
  • Respect author's configured editor.
  • New Zinc theme (For Unlimited version).
  • More ACL controls over the toolbar.

Javascript Optimization

Apart from just new functionality, EasyBlog 3.9 also incorporates extensive optimization on our javascript library, Foundry JS by reducing the number of "http" requests on the server. In other words, EasyBlog is blazing fast! The optimization that was made on EasySocial is now brought over to EasyBlog and will eventually be introduced in all our extensions.

For coders, our Changelog shall give you a clearer picture of what's new.

Notes

We would also like to announce that EasyBlog 3.9 will no longer support Joomla 1.5. You will not be able to download EasyBlog installer for Joomla 1.5 in your Dashboard as well. We only recommend and support Joomla 2.5 and above.

We'd like you to get your hands on the new EasyBlog and upgrade yours and that of your clients' site immediately.

Update

It is important to take note that upgrading from major releases from versions 3.8.x or lower to 3.9.x, requires a manual upgrade via the Extension Manager. It is not possible to do this via the Updater. Please be rest assured that the normal upgrade process will not erase your blog posts or settings.
