Hi the team,

Last time, when I put a comment on your post about your easysocial native web app (https://stackideas.com/blog/pre-orders-for-easysocial-native-app), Mark answered to me: your "mobile web template" (https://stackideas.com/apps/item/3361-mobile-web-template) was a kind of progressive web app (PWA) but he didn't answer to my questions after it.

Which mobile web template? Do you mean this https://stackideas.com/apps/item/3361-mobile-web-template ?

Because I didn't know that... I always thought it was just another mobile template only for mobile browser. It’s not explained as it.

1- How about web push notifications?
2- Does it work with all 3rd party components?
3- Your Easysocial Native app template seems to be better, do you think it could be possible to get the same template in your mobile web template PWA and an identical template for the website to be consistent?
Yes, I meant the template from https://stackideas.com/apps/item/3361-mobile-web-template

1- How about web push notifications?

You do not need progressive web app for push notifications. You can already use the web push notification app from https://stackideas.com/apps/item/3355-web-push-notifications to handle push notifications on supported systems like Android. iOS does not allow push notifications irregardless if you are on progressive web apps or not.

Do take note that Progressive web apps does not necessarily mean handling push notifications.

2- Does it work with all 3rd party components?

The mobile template is all about the way it renders the layout of EasySocial to give it a native look and feel. Unfortunately it does not support 3rd party components but the benefit of it is tapping on their links would just be a link to the respective page.

What you see on the native app are utilizing components and controls from the native UI (Android and iOS) which is not available to the web browser.

Hi Mark,

1. Push notification:

Do take note that Progressive web apps does not necessarily mean handling push notifications.

Yes it was the answer I was getting.

To compare with the other provider WPA solution I use, their own Web Push Notification extension works along with their own PWA plugin to get the notification features. And if I have got it, FCM (Firebase Cloud messaging) is used and Related To their own Web Push Notification for sending notifications too.

2. About 3rd party components

The mobile template is all about the way it renders the layout of EasySocial to give it a native look and feel. Unfortunately it does not support 3rd party components but the benefit of it is tapping on their links would just be a link to the respective page.

To compare with the WPA tool I use, it works with all 3rd party components because it load the mobile theme part from the template set in joomla.

3. About Easysocial native web app

What you see on the native app are utilizing components and controls from the native UI (Android and iOS) which is not available to the web browser.

I have got it. But for example about " all reactions" sum up at the end of one post, do you think it is not possible with javascript (for example) to show the count like in your native app instead of the actual easysocial web template?

I have no idea where you are heading with on this post but if the solution works for you, then you should continue using it.

The one that you see on the native app uses a 3rd party component in React that utilizes the effects from the native mobile app. We don't combine these reactions currently but we may look into enhancing this in the future

Our hands are quite tied down to several concurrent development of our extensions currently and we'll definitely reconsider this
