In Easyblog 5, we already move all the theme setting into backend > Easyblog > category , because now the new concept is you can set which information you do not want to display on your blog entry page based on each category.

Yes, the `Post Type` option already disappeared from the composer, so you can click the `quick new post` from the toolbar, check my screenshot below.

Set Print to hide and pdf to on, totally ignored and the reverse happens

If the blog post under this category where you disable the `show print`, then this category post do not show out the `Print` on blog entry page.

Half the tooltip help in the setting pages are blank

Perhaps you can provide us some screenshot which tooltip show blank so that we can update it quickly?

Some tooltip comments relate to other items, i.e video size shows tooltip for upload size

Truncate post is currently set to 25, however 3.9 it was set to 250. makes no odds on v5 its displaying as v3.9 did

In Easyblog 5, we do have 2 type of truncation : (screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/ilIMyiEi9T )
#1. Composer truncation setting - If you submit a blog post using composer, it will see the left setting from the screenshot.
#2. Legacy post truncation setting - If you submit a blog post using Joomla default editor (e.g. tiny-mce, JCK editor, etc), it will see the right setting from the screenshot.

Is it recommended to install fresh and remove existing db entries etc which is not a problem as i have few posts for the moment

Yes, if you do not mind your existing post removed, you can uninstalled of your current Easyblog from your Joomla backend and remove all the Easyblog table #_easyblog_xxx from your database, then install back Easyblog 5 in your site.

Ok managed to remove Category header and user/category links from frontpage by using menu link settings as opposed to easyblog settings

In both Easyblog config and menu link config frontpage images are set to show, however images only show in posts not frontpage, v3.9 images show every time
