I'm trying to update/install EasyBlog 5.0.28 on a test site I have. I am stuck at Step 3 and have the error

'Sorry, there was some errors when trying to extract the queries.zip file. Please contact our support team.'

What can I do to fix this? I have read through other threads and I see that typically it seems like your support team fixes this for users, but I would like to know if there is a way I can fix this myself?
Hey there,

It seems like your hitting that error is most likely of your file permission issue, can you consult with your webhosting provider is it chown for all files and folders to the correct owners?

If yes, perhaps you can provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can better have a check.

Arlex, that makes sense. I'll look into the permissions. Thanks.

It seems like this was related to the group permission settings on the server. I was able to update my main site successfully.

However I have other topics about this issue, this update doesn't work well on a multi-site. Only the site I updated EasyBlog on is working, the rest of my multi-sites have SQL issues and the menu doesn't look correct. (See screenshot) I use MightySites for my multi-site install.

Last time it seemed like this was related to the sql queries and I had to run a bunch of sql updates manually. Have you had any other people report trouble with this? I need to figure out a way to not have this issue every time an EasyBlog update comes out. The Maintenance > Database script doesn't seem to do anything when I run it.

Hey there,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

So far no user report this issue on our forum, what i suspect is that was related with your file permission issue when you install Easyblog in your site, it will not install completely so causing this menu is not show out correctly.

Can you try reinstall again and see how it goes?

Hi Arlex,

I just want to clarify, I have 10 sites on a multisite using MightySites. I updated EasyBlog on one of them, lets call it Site 1. Site 1 seems to work fine but Sites 2 - 10 are showing this issue.

Should I try to update EasyBlog on each specific site? They all share the same codebase but have their own databases.

Hey there,

Hm, to be honest with you we have never tried using Mighty Sites and we don't really have any idea how it actually works. However, since you said that they all share the same codebase, I really think the issue here is that the database aren't updated for the rest of the sites. You need to run the install on each of the sites to ensure that all the db are in sync.

I'm in the middle of updating each site separately and it seems to be doing the trick. While not ideal I'm glad that things seem to be going back to normal.

I was really hoping the Maintenance > Database tool would do the trick. Any idea why it wouldn't seem to change anything?

Hey there,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

Unfortunately that was not possible to do this from Maintenance, but you have to install it for your each site.
