Blocking should work where if a user blocks someone, they stop seeing that user's content. As it is right now, it goes like this:

User A blocks User B
User B can no longer see or interact with User A

It should be like this:

User A blocks User B
User A can no longer see or interact with User B, and User B can no longer see or interact with User A

Usually if you're blocking someone you don't want to keep seeing them, and with the global nature of the feed it makes it impossible to avoid people you want to avoid!

(didn't realise it worked as you describe - assumed that yes, if you block someone they can't see you and you can't see them, otherwise a bit silly!)

That's what I thought as well, but a user (who was very afraid of another user and wanted to block them completely) tested it with me: the blocked person can't see you at all, but you keep seeing everything from them. It's very strange and not at all how I expected blocking to work!

I just found out today as a user reported it to me that if you block a user they can still appear in the "Friend suggestion" module - I suppose full marks for trying to ease conflict but zero for design!

I have been informed by StackIdeas that blocking is designed this way on purpose! Their argument is that you keep seeing the person you blocked in case one day you want to unblock them! I suggested better is not seeing them at all but having a "Blocked users" section where you can see who you blocked and un-block them.

I guess it could be an option that site owners set, either one way or two way blocking?

Anyway, please lets hope lots people vote on this as my users really don't like seeing a friend suggestion of someone they purposefully block!

Yes, i definitely understand their reasoning but for my users it's just about the opposite of what they want! I do hope that they consider at least adding an option, as you suggested, to let us choose between 1-way or 2-way blocking.

That is so stupid. Why not just have a block list like every other network. You block people for a reason.
