Hi there Si Team,

I am not sure what happened with your German translations but since this year I am not really happy with them and have to make a lot of modifications and language overrides.

The translations you had before wear shorter in words now sometimes words in german are changed to more formal words. Issue with this on some templates words are to long and get cut off. Example: Veranstaltungen is German translation for Event, funny thing Event itself works also in german and would prefer the short informal versions. This is only one example of many changes to your german language files.

Also something to mention is now we have capital letters in some URL's which we did not before. Example videos, Audiodateien:

https://www.yoursite.com/Audiodateien instead of https://www.yoursite.com/audio

Is there any way to get the old translations back, because right now I am not very happy with the more formal one? They were much better before....

Regards
Jean
Hey Jean,

Hm, I will forward this to Sylvie as she is handling the translators. Perhaps if you could help with the translations, it would be great too

Hi Mark,

I do understand that some customers do prefer the more formal language translation and that it is quite difficult to maintain translations with different translators.

But, it probably would have been a good idea to keep the old translations or make two sorts of translation one formal and one not.

I also would love to help with translating but do not want to change the ones you already have because maybe other customers do prefer the new translations you have now?

I know, it's not a easy task...

Will be making overrides for now thanks Mark

Hey Jean,

Understood but the biggest issue here is the more language we host with Transifex, the more expensive it is going to be for us. Transifex charges us for every single "word" stored on their system and the total number of downloads

Good old Transifex,

maybe there are other alternative ways where you could host your own translations and not have to rely on costly 3rd party translations?

Zanata maybe?

Hm, I don't think Zanata supports Joomla language files
