Nothing I do is changing the colors and settings back to what I have in the preset, and the site looks awful. I don't understand what is happening here. It is showing the default purple theme despite the fact that a different preset is selected.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused, this probably caused by cache and in order to see the changes, you need to clear your joomla cache (system>clear cache) and temporary enable the Compile LESS to CSS (extensions>templates>vanilla>advanced tab) then try to see front-end if the changes is occur.
Once the changes is working, you need to disable back the Compile LESS to CSS setting

I did all of that several times over before I submitted this ticket. It still wasn't showing this morning to me, I'll have to check tomorrow when I have a computer again. Thanks.

This STILL isn't working. can someone please use my site credentials and go tell me why this blasted template does not recognize anything I do? My site has looked awful for almost a year.

I have clear your Joomla cache and temporarily enable the Compile LESS to CSS (extensions>templates>vanilla>advanced tab) to make sure it will recompile new styling.
