Hello guys,

I have a few things regarding language strings.

1. I see there is a missing string. (Please see attached image. - ES version 1.0.9)
I checked it again. It seems there is the string in lang file, but somehow it doesnt read.

2. I couldnt find string of "his" pronoun. (Please see attached image) Where should I look for?

3. I also couldnt find strings for application links in profile (Please see attached file).

4. In Turkish language syntax is different than English (TR: Subject + Noun + Verb). Therefore syntax of strings is a kind of problem for me.

For example "zafer updated his profile" should be "zafer profilini güncelledi" in TR, but instead "zafer güncelledi his profil". It is difficult to make a meaningful translation and I cannot be satisfied with this very disturbing language usage.

Could you use complete strings for those stream items instead of cutting it in single words or what would you suggest? This is really important for me.

Thanks and best regards,

Zafer
Hello Zafer,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as I was currently not available during the weekend as I was attending a Joomla conference in Thailand. Please find the answers to your inquiries below:

1. I see there is a missing string. (Please see attached image. - ES version 1.0.9)
I checked it again. It seems there is the string in lang file, but somehow it doesnt read.

Hm, not too sure why it isn't being read but can you please provide us with the back end and FTP access for this?

2. I couldnt find string of "his" pronoun. (Please see attached image) Where should I look for?

These are translated through the app's language file which is in /administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_app_user_gender.ini

3. I also couldnt find strings for application links in profile (Please see attached file).

Currently, app names are not translate-able yet but we're adding this to the next release

4. In Turkish language syntax is different than English (TR: Subject + Noun + Verb). Therefore syntax of strings is a kind of problem for me.

If the entire string is on a single string, does that help?

Hello Mark,

Thanks for the answer and welcome back.

1. I have provided you my site's information below in the form.
3. It is good to hear that.
2. & 4. Yes, if entire string/text is on a single string, it will pretty help, I think. In that case, I can re-arrange the syntax without much problem.

Another example for this problem is this "his" pronoun in the stream (please see attached image named "ES - his"), if it is located in another language file (user_gender.ini), even on another string, it doesnt matter if I translate it or not, because there will not become a meaningful sentence anyway.

I think your suggestion - entire text is on a single string - will solve this problem. So I can rearrange the order of the words.

When do you think to provide this solution?

Thanks and best regards,

Zafer

I tried checking the language file /language/tr-TR/tr-TR.com_easysocial.ini and I don't seem to locate any string with "COM_EASYSOCIAL_DASHBOARD_SIDEBAR_ME_AND_FRIENDS". You need to add the translations yourself,

COM_EASYSOCIAL_DASHBOARD_SIDEBAR_ME_AND_FRIENDS="Me & Friends"

As for the issues with the single line string, we'll try to see if we can add a fix in the next version.

Could you please also check this issue which I have recently noticed: http://gezgonlunce.com/topluluk/kayit

I cleared cache, but issue still exists.

By the way, where are those registration strings file located?

I think it would be good If you could collect all strings of apps in just one file.

Thanks again.

Hello Zafer,

If you are using the Turkey language, it's actually not completed yet. Hence, some of these language strings are faulty. Take a look at the progress here, https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/easysocial/language/tr_TR/

1. I use my own translation. String for registration should be English if there is no translation, right? Please see attached file. There is no text here.

2. Is registration related strings located in admin.ini file?

Hi Zafer,

1. I use my own translation. String for registration should be English if there is no translation, right? Please see attached file. There is no text here.

Regarding the translation, if Joomla cannot find the correct language file for your language, then it will fall back to English. However, if Joomla found the language file but there is the missing translation, Joomla will not fall back to English. Anyway, I've checked your language file tr-TR.com_easysocial.ini, it seems like those language string wasn't there. I've added those missing languages string into your tr-TR.com_easysocial.ini and now the text is displayed in English.

2. Is registration related strings located in admin.ini file?

Ah for the custom fields, yes, the strings was located in backend language file

Hope this help and have a nice day

Hello Sam,

Thank you for the answer. I added translation on that file.

1. Regarding strings for texts like place holders, check, continue, etc. in Registration area (custom fields), are they also located in the same admin language file?

2. As Mark suggested, I translated gender.ini file in administrator side in order to translate "his" pronoun. I did it and it worked. However, "their" pronoun seems that it doesn't come from gender.ini file, because my translation doesnt work there. Could you please advice? (Please see attached screeshot 2)

Thanks and best regards,

Zafer

Hello Zafer,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

1. Regarding strings for texts like place holders, check, continue, etc. in Registration area (custom fields), are they also located in the same admin language file?

The custom fields language files are located in the /administrator/language/en-GB/ folder. Most of them are in their own language files. For instance, en-GB.plg_fields_user_gender.ini file holds translations for the gender field.

The PLG_FIELDS_GENDER_VALUE_THEIR value comes from the file /administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_fields_user_gender.ini

Hello Mark,

Thank you for your answer.

I have attached 2 screenshots. Please see them. I have translated all strings in gender.ini file and uploaded to the server and cleared cache as well. But still there is another word appears instead of my translation. Could you please have a look at this?

Hm, I don't seem to see any files in /administrator/language/tr-TR/tr-TR.plg_fields_user_gender.ini . Did you save it at a different location?

Ah, yes why not. There's a fallback if the user isn't assigned a gender field. You can look for this translation in COM_EASYSOCIAL_THEIR at /language/tr-TR/tr-TR.com_easysocial.ini

Thank you very much, Mark. It is okay now.

Please consider for your next ES versions to place comlete sentence on a single string. So we can translate and re-arrange order of the sentence.
