Hi -

Is there a way to access & add to the menu of shortcuts that appears at the bottom of a profile header?

Currently, I see 'albums," "videos," etc. For purposes of my community, I need to add similar links there (with their respective item counters) for the user's K2 submissions & EasyBlog submissions as well. How can I do that?

Thanks,
Cheryl
Hello Cheryll,

It's not possible to do that currently but isn't the apps already appearing on the cover of the mini heading? http://take.ms/cPxx8

I'm agree with Cheryl.
For mini-header, there should be at least the Discussions (EasyDiscuss) and Blogs (EasyBlog) shortcuts with counters
Probably for the next releases

Hi, Mark - thanks for the quick response!

A few related things:

1) The "Applications" drop-down appears in the cover photo that is part of the "Content" plugin integration (meaning, within K2 & EasyBlog items) but NOT on the cover photo on an individual user's profile. Is there a setting for that somewhere?

2) I can't seem to get the EasyBlog user app to work at all: I've updated to the latest EB version, and both my Applications Store & plugins manager reflect that I've installed (and enabled) the EasyBlog blog App, however it does not appear in my applications manager, so I can't turn it 'on' in user profiles. Is there another place to access this?

3) Am I missing a setting or a module (similar to your Groups Menu module) to create a unified navigation for user profiles? It should have all of the items in that top header list PLUS all of the user's applications [albums, videos, friends, groups, followers, events, K2 articles, EasyBlog posts]. Currently, the only link appearing under "Applications" is the K2 posts -- that is part of what is UNDER emphasizing what for my community is the most important part of the profile. And, it is inconsistent with the way the sidebar menus work in Groups, Dashboard and Events, and therefore confusing to the user.

I could see 3 options for this -

(a) add those links to the header
(b) have 1 unified menu in sidebar, modeled after your Groups Menu or Events Menu modules, with Timeline plus all Apps
(c) add all links to user apps (including photos, friends, etc) to the "Applications" menu in the profile sidebar.

Is there a setting or module I've overlooked to achieve either (b) or (c)?

Thanks!
Cheryl

Hello Cheryl,

Please find my response to your inquiries below:

1) The "Applications" drop-down appears in the cover photo that is part of the "Content" plugin integration (meaning, within K2 & EasyBlog items) but NOT on the cover photo on an individual user's profile. Is there a setting for that somewhere?

Unfortunately right now these apps doesn't appear on the header of the profile area because these apps are already rendered on the sidebar.

If you have installed the latest blog app, ensure that it is published. Also, did you set a custom ACL for the app?

3) Am I missing a setting or a module (similar to your Groups Menu module) to create a unified navigation for user profiles? It should have all of the items in that top header list PLUS all of the user's applications [albums, videos, friends, groups, followers, events, K2 articles, EasyBlog posts]. We currently have a menu module which allows user to navigate between the site. This module doesn't list apps as it would be too heavy to list them all in a module.

It wont shown on individual user's profile because we already got application's section as you can see here http://screencast.com/t/03dagXhIwY.

Maybe you can provide us with your backend in order for us to have better view on this issues. But, maybe you can got to this link https://stackideas.com/apps/item/5-blog download it and install it at Backend>Components>EasySocial>Applications>Install as shown http://screencast.com/t/ZPCcjalBghP and see whether it installed or not at Backend>Components>EasySocial>Applications

You have to make sure you have enabled "default application" as shown http://screencast.com/t/kUGAbefig in order to show them at user profiles.

(a) add those links to the header

We cant achieved that currently. but having said that, if you require us to perform the customization for you, you can always request for a quote from us at https://crm.stackideas.com and select "Customizations" . Our sales person would be glad to send you a quote for the customizations that you have requested.

(b) have 1 unified menu in sidebar, modeled after your Groups Menu or Events Menu modules, with Timeline plus all Apps

I am not sure actually what you meant here. Maybe you can explain more thoroughly regarding this one.

(c) add all links to user apps (including photos, friends, etc) to the "Applications" menu in the profile sidebar.

We cant achieve that as if you set it "default applications" on each apps, it will shown under the apps and shown on other division as you can see here http://screencast.com/t/OTsaJ7C2

Please advice.

Thanks for your responses.

The issue is that we need a single menu in the sidebar that gives the visitor access to all of the component parts of a user's profile, rather than splitting them into different headings such as "News Feed," "Applications," (a concept that doesn't have meaning to our users), etc.

This need is perfectly met for "groups" by your "Groups Menu Module": a single list of all of the things the user can find within the group: discussions, events, feeds, files, members, annnouncements, polls, tasks.

For individual members, what I need is a similar menu (in a module or otherwise): About Me, My K2 items, My EasyBlog items, My Photos, My Videos, My Friends, My Followers, My Events, My Polls, etc.

That way all parts of the members profile (or at a minimum all "default" parts of the profile) are treated the same. The problem with the current layout is that when we as administrators set an "application" as "default" for all users (in keeping with the purposes and needs of our individual communities), the term "Application" has no meaning to the user - so separating those parts out is meaningless.

That said, I think even where the user has added optional "applications" on their own, it still makes the navigation more complicated and the sidebar more cluttered than either needs to be.

Is there a menu that I could render for the user that has all of their profile elements within it?

Thanks!
Cheryl

Hello Cheryl,

Thanks for your input on this but the closest you could get right now is to use the EasySocial menu module which lists down the user's items. It doesn't however display items to your K2 page though.

Hello,

I come back to this subject because the user needs consistency and clarity.

You are proposing two applications to integrate EasyDiscuss and EasyBlog into EasySocial Groups.
In the groups, there is already a header shortcut to the Discussions applications.
Why not have the same with EasyDiscuss Group and EasyBlog Group ?

I did a little simulation to better visualize.

Thank you.

Based on what you attached above, those "Discussion" is not EasyDiscuss. It is built-in discussion for EasySocial. Please advice.

You have purchase and download both EasyBlog's blog and EasyDiscuss's blog apps for your site first as you can see below
https://stackideas.com/apps/item/2937-group-blog
https://stackideas.com/apps/item/3320-easydiscuss-group

Please advice.

Thank you Abdul for your response.
Yes effectively Discussions is a native application of EasySocial.

But since EasyDiscuss Group has the same usage as Discussions. It would be great that we have a shortcut of the same type, as on the picture.

EasyDiscuss and EasyBlog produce content as important as a video or event, right ?
They deserve to be highlighted and easily accessible by the user.

Actually, we have put it under "Application" and "dropdown" menu for easy access for user as shown http://screencast.com/t/xx2K1QIZ

But, having said that, it would be nice if you can voices it out at https://stackideas.com/voices/easysocial and if got many votes for it, it would be our privileges to insert this feature to our components in the future. Thanks for you understandings
