I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

I have another dilemma. Please see attached.
I would like to remove the option of being able to share a post/photo with Registered Users altogether.
I would only want to share something with friends. My understanding that if i select to share with 'Registered Users', every member of the site will see my post on their wall, irrespective if we are friends or not. Is that right?
Please enlighten me.

Yes, that is right.
Unfortunately we do not have an option to disabled this "Registered" privacy from the story panel, but you can download my attached file and put into your current template file location Joomlafolder/templates/YourCurrenTemplate/html/com_easysocial/privacy/form.php , I already modified this file to remove that option. (note : you have to manually create those new folder/file from your template directory.)
After that you have to set your default privacy setting from backend, you can check my screenshot here : http://take.ms/Nha88

Also a quick one, when a new member receives a welcome email, the EasySocial logo appears at the top (see attached). I would've thought it would naturally show the custom logo i uploaded. Please help in changing this.

Hi Arlex, thank you very much for your reply.

The system seems to be pretty complicated. So i am just very conscious of people/members spamming by sharing stuff with Registered Users...meaning everyone signed up would see their post.

I have just created another account and tested a post by sharing with Registered Users and i was not able to see that post from my other account. Which is a good outcome but is there more to this in the Privacy settings? By common sense, the 'shared post' with 'Registered Users' should have been seen by everyone, but it wasn't.

Please enlighten me .

Hello Ben,

By default, EasySocial filters stream from you and your friends only to disregard noises in a community. If you filter your streams by "Everyone" as you can see here, http://take.ms/4LyEo , you will then be able to see everyone's stream.

If you want "Everyone" to be the default filter when viewing your dashboard, this can be configured under Settings > Users > Layout under the dashboard section as you can see here, http://take.ms/d4Ngb

Hi Mark, thanks for your answer. Can you please confirm with me what 'disregard noises in a community' means?

Basically I want my site to function like facebook in this regard...and that is you can't see my post if we are not friends. And i should not have the option to select Registered Users when sharing something.

So i have also turned off the Display Everyone Filter so that it can't be even seen, this solves the problem of what i can see on my wall from what i can control, but then i am still able to share something with Registered Users if i choose. Would you then say that because every other member can only see their feed and their friends', they will not be able to see a random members' post even if that member shares their post with Registered Users?


This also leaves me with other questions of a similar nature:

- In the Leader Board - how can i get it to only see members that are my friends?
- Same with Recent Users,
- Same with Users Online.
- Same with the ability to See All Users. I definitely do not want this on.
- Also how can i Remove link from the "gender' field so that it will just be text. atm it is taking me to the member search page with the
gender field preselected, showing me all ie. males on the website.

Yes, I believe what my colleague mean is that, when you set "Me & friend" filter by default, so your site member will not see any spamming stuff on their dashboard, unless they want to see other stuff, they can click on "Everyone" filter.

Unfortunately that was not possible to set only show the user friend at this point of time.

You can disable this "searchable" setting from backend > Easysocial > profile type > select your profile type > custom field > edit "Gender" custom field > click on 'Advanced' tag > searchable - NO

Ok so we will just go by that then..and since they don't have the option to click to see Everyone, everyone should only see stuff from their own friends.

Regarding everyone seeing the Leader Board, Recent Users and Users Online, can we just not display them in that case?

Yes, you can disable it from backend > extension > module manager , you can refer on my attached screenshot below.
I already help you disabled it from your backend, those module will not appear on your user dashboard now.

I already disable show 'Age' setting from profile type custom field section, it shouldn't show the user age on their profile.
And for the birthday year, you can set this privacy from edit profile page, you can check my attached screenshot below, once you set to 'Only me', mean your birthday year only you can view it.

Great, thanks very much Arlex. I have also disabled the Recent Albums as it had access to everyones.

Birth Year Privacy it wasn't showing right as i was viewing redeem's profile from my admin account and so i saw everything. But when i looked the other (redeem user viewing admin profile) i noticed it didnt show the year. that's great thank you.

Lastly, how does Profile Permalink work? I have tried finding it in documentation but proved difficult. thanks

If the user didn't set any profile permalink from their user profile, the system will trying to use his name as user permalink.

I am trying to modify the site settings only as much as I can so that when i have to upgrade there isn't any issues with my customisations. So as much as i can I want to try and work within the site's parameters if you know what i mean.

So how what is the purpose of permalinks and how do they work. If i set my permalink as Ben..what does this mean? Where does it come up? Where can i use it?

If you just want to disable those option from the dropdown, I would suggest to customise on this file then override this php file on your current template directory file, I've attached the file.

When the user click on your user name link on the Easysocial page, it will show your user permalink like /userid-ben ,you can check my attached screenshot below.

One of the benefit is allow user to edit their user permalink if they do not like to show their fullname as the user permalink on the page.

For now we do not have a setting for this, we only have a global setting from backend if you disable group feature setting, it will completely disable it on frontend.

Nope, this achievement privacy is not related with the leaderboard, the achievement part is actually based on the user badge what his achieve on the site, you can check my attached screenshot below.

Yes, that browse user page will show all the member on the site, but it only depend on the user privacy as well, if they set user friend can see their user profile page, mean this browse user page will not show these member.
