Good day, StackIdeas team! In our website, some users have reported that they get the redirect loop error. However, it only happens to some of the users. The website is a fresh install (Joomla 3.2.4 version) and as far as I know, there are no other extensions causing this error. It might help to know that the log in module we use is the default one from Joomla. I have checked and the Login Redirection Page is set to open to the EasySocial Profile page of the user. Please take note that all other log in extensions have been unpublished except for the one currently in use (Joomla Login).

Can you please help out? And I'm sorry but I am not allowed to give the access details, as this is a huge site and I am in no authority to give out its details.

Thank you in advance for your support!
Hello Mary Souder,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.
Is it the issues when some of the user trying to login then get redirect error loop? If yes, can you provide us some screenshot how you set the Easysocial menu item structure as well? Because we are appreciated that if you can provide us with your Joomla backend access so we can help you solve this quickly.

You can put the information in the optional information field below. Don't worry about privacy. Only Support team can view the information.

Hi Arlex,

Yes. the issue is that when some of the users log in they get the redirect error loop. For the log in, I use the core Joomla log in module. That core Joomla log in module points to the EasySocial profile of the user. It doesn't happen to all the thousands of users we have; just a couple of them but it is becoming an issue to the site since everyone needs to have access to the website. I hope you can help me out here in solving/fixing this.

The EasySocial menu is not used in the website but in the Menu Manager, only the Dashboard menu item link is made active. What we did was create a new menu whose links point to EasySocial's different features, such as Dashboard, Profile and Groups. That is to say that in the Joomla back-end (Menu Manager) we set the menu item type to point to EasySocial's Dashboard or Profile or Groups.

As for the log in module which the users use to log in to the website, it's the core Joomla log in module that is being used. That module's log in button is linked to the new menu we created (mentioned above), wherein there is a link for EasySocial's Profile. The Login Redirection Page for the log in module is set to EasySocial Profile. So I am not sure what is causing this redirect loop error that affects some of our users.

I'm sorry but I am not allowed to give access to their back-end. Given the scenario and additional information above, I hope you can help find a solution for this.

Hello Mary,

Thanks for getting back to us on this. To be honest with you, without any access to your site, we are pretty much blindfolded when trying to explain to you what is going on. We can't really tell what the real issue is unless we take a look at your current setup

What you can try, is to disable the "System - EasySocial" plugin and if the user ever gets redirected to the login page, try to ask them to see which page were they previously on.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the reply. If I disable the "System - EasySocial" plugin, how will that affect both my site and EasySocial in my site? We're running a very large website and I don't want to risk anything and thought it would be best to ask you first.

Hello Mary,

The idea of this "System - EasySocial plugin" is to ensure that if a user tries to access com_users which is Joomla's user component, it will then redirect the user to EasySocial's page instead. However, I am suspecting that, due to the menu structure that you have on your site, it is causing these redirect loops. Disabling it will not affect the operation of EasySocial.

Hi there, I also happened to encounter the redirect loop on users with numbers in their username. But this only happens when htaccess is enabled and profileurl in simbunch is also enabled.

Hello,

Hm, once you turned off Simbunch's profile url, does the redirection loop still occurs?

with profile url turned off, this does not happen. But of course, the redirection of username profile view url is really not that good (site.com/profile/username-id rather than site.com/username).

Hello,

Hm, I have a feeling that Simbunch's profile url plugin is not generating the correct Itemid. You should try contacting them to look into this since you have paid for it, you should bring this up with them
