I was told today that to have the layout my client wants, that is Layout 1 of the Magazine I must accept that even though I limited the category to ONE choice, the headings and the URL are randomly changed and that is just how this "works" (being a strong word as it really is not "working" at all).

To resolve this I must change the menu type to Single Category that has NO top image like Layout 1 of the Magazine in order to have the navigation AND the heading maintained.

I find it impossible to believe I am the only person with this issue. I'm hoping that in posting this to others that there is a better solution than what was recommended by EasyBlog.

HELP, my client is super unhappy now and I have no solutions to offer. Good URL and maintain Heading with no large image at the top or Large image at the top and random URLs and headings that are not the right category.

So not a win-win. My client and I both love this tool so there has to be a better solution than what I was offered today.

thanks,
Deb
Okay, so this is your current requirements right now?

1. Show different categories post in different magazine menu item on the frontend

2. The blog post URL format has contained post category alias e.g. site.com/categoryAlias/postTitle.

If yes, can I have permission to try setup this menu structure for you in your staging site?

Just in case later I mess around your staging site, you can do the full backup for this before I proceed with this.

Looking forward to your response.

No the 2 assumptions are not accurate.

1) I want only 1 category to show in the magazine style and I want that 1 category to display the title of that throughout the end users experience when clicking on any of the posts on that category magazine layout menu type. Right now both URL and page titles are totally wrong once you click on a blog post from the Magazine layout. What is also distressing is that all 6 of these menu types end up using the same wrong category URL. I have reordered the categories thinking this might help, but nothing changed. I really am mystified why it would choose the one category it has and do it for ALL 6 menu items. These 6 menu items live under the main menu item of Articles.

2) I WANT the URL to use the category selected in the MENU but right now it is NOT that way and is using a random category and URL but weirdly the same URL for ALL 6 of the magazine style pages.

I have made a backup of the site. I look forward to hearing more from you regarding this very odd behavior.

thanks a bunch,
Deb

This is what I have done in your staging site :

1. I already help you created a single category menu item for each of your existing blog categories. (screenshot 1)

2. So when you access this magazine page https://stage.buyersmeetingpoint.com/articles/digital-transformation then click the first blog post, the post URL will become https://stage.buyersmeetingpoint.com/digital-transformation/entry/making-category-management-possible-with-enabling-technology and the toolbar above header did show the correct "Digital Transformation".

3. But I noticed when you access this page https://stage.buyersmeetingpoint.com/articles/leadership-collaboration and click on the first blog post, the post URL will become https://stage.buyersmeetingpoint.com/guest-posts/entry/how-to-use-emotional-intelligence-in-procurement-and-the-supply-chain which it doesn't use for the 'leadership-collaboration' menu alias is because this blog post was set "Guest Posts" category as primary and this is why the system will route the menu alias to 'guest-posts' instead of 'leadership-collaboration', just in case if you feel weird when accessing this single blog entry page. (screenshot 2)

If you would like the post URL to contain this 'leadership-collaboration' menu alias then you have to set this blog post-primary category to 'leadership collaboration'.

4. I have help you created an Easyblog frontpage layout menu item so that system will route to this menu item if you did not create any menu item for the author, tag, calendar, and etc page. (screenshot 3)

Can you check this new current menu structure and see if you feel okay or not.

Just for your information, by default the blog entry URL only available route from the single category, author, team blog menu item (screenshot: https://monosnap.com/file/elLrkcQSIju6vyjADXLeMR9hZzRbAj ) and it is impossible to route through the Magazine menu item at this point of time.
