Hello Stack Ideas Team:
We have a client whose forum is dedicated only to its members. They have to login to view the forum. When a post is made, an email goes out to all members about this post. As you know, there is a link in the email that says Read This Discussion.

When a member clicks on this button, it takes them to a login page. Upon logging in, they are directed to the main page of the forum, not the topic.

Can we change this?

Could it be that we have another login system on the site for their membership system or, perhaps, the Joomla login is conflicting?

I was told before that the only way I could have the email link directly go to the discussion was making the forum public but as a hidden menu item. This is not a good solution as some of the areas within the forum are membership business.

I appreciate any assistance.
Hi Channing,

Can I have the 'authentication' credential https://www.screencast.com/t/bA49BwQQH9E to see how your menu structure and category permission?

You can add the information needed by edit your first post in the Details section or you can just include your site's access once at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site rather than needing to keep adding them in your replies

Did you try the information in the Additional Information section of the dashboard? That is the info for the password protected administrator directory.

Hi Channing,

Thanks, I'm now able to access your site. After looks on your menu structure, seems like you've set menu item (coand-forum) only group forum group can access, and because of this permission has set, it will redirect you to Joomla login page when someone trying to access the (discussions)questions . Besides, you have already set each EasyDiscuss categories that public/guest user cant access it.

It will possible if you to change the menu (coand-forum) to have permission to public/guest user and set it as hidden menu (in this case public user still cannot access the discussion as you've already set the category permission).

Hi Fadhi:

I was told this before. But, if this is set to a hidden menu and given public access, it is possible for a Google search to find it. However, I guess the public would not actually be able to get into the forum. I believe I have been looking at this problem from the wrong perspective. Let me give it a try. I thank you and will update you on any problems I may have.
