I was having javascript_void errors show up when attempting to edit blogs (we are on outdated joomla 2.5). We update about every 60 days. There was an alert in the backend dashboard saying there was a critical update issues. I downloaded the new installer, uploaded it to joomla and proceeded. I was unable to click the proceed button because of a java error and unable to exit the installer. Meanwhile, our entire joomla site has crashed! I have cloudflare in development mode thinking that was part of the java issue, it wasn't. I'm working on a restoration from a backup right now.
Hello Joel,

It seems like you are running on Joomla 2.5 and the latest version of EasyBlog 5.1 will only support Joomla 3.x onwards. We had to drop the support of Joomla 2.5 as it is no longer supported by Joomla and it has already reached it's end of life almost 2 years ago

Okay Mark, I just proceeded as usual because the installer showed that all the requirements were met. What is the last version I should be running and how do I find it to download?

Thank you,

Joel

Hello Joel,

Hm, the latest version available for 2.5 would be 5.0.44 but our downloads system doesn't allow downloading archived version but I could get it installed for you. You mentioned that you are restoring the site. Should I wait for the restore or should I reinstall 5.0.44 on your site?

Also, I would strongly advise you to update to Joomla 3.7 as it has tons of security fixes and bug fixes.

Mark,

Yes please wait until the restore is complete. We have a dev space as an option as well. We need help with taking our site to 3.7. Can you recommend a developer who is very good with somewhat complex joomla 2.5 migrations? This would be very helpful.

Thank you,

Joel

Okay, sure. Let us know when your restore is completed. Migrating from Joomla 2.5 to 3.x should be pretty straight forward and they are actually documented on https://docs.joomla.org/Joomla_2.5_to_3.x_Step_by_Step_Migration
