Install fails from directory after unzip

Sorry, there was some errors when trying to extract the queries.zip file. Please contact our support team.

I am not impressed why is this such as massive install and why not stick with normal Joomla methods ?
Regards
Paul

If you download the full installer from https://stackideas.com/dashboard -> screenshot : http://take.ms/1Zi4k then upload through Joomla backend installer page, it should work fine.

Perhaps you can take a look of my video here and see is it can help?
-> http://take.ms/HEiIY

If the issue still persist, is there a way temporary upload your test site to live so we can better have a check?

Hello Paul,

EasyBlog is a huge extension as it has a ton of feature / functionality. Apart from that, it also has over 30 themes. Each theme delivers it's own css files and this is why the size of the archive is huge.

You should increase the upload_max_filesize to at least 25mb but here's the irony. If your upload limit is only 16mb, this also means that anywhere on your site, you can only upload a maximum of 16mb. Increasing it wouldn't really do any harm to your site

If you are afraid of people abusing the site by uploading huge files, you could just set this value to 25MB temporarily and reset it after you install.

Thanks for the frankly ridiculous reply at 20mb its twice the size of Joomla itself. Can I suggest you separate the themes from the component and give the user the choice of installing the component and then selecting the theme. Clogging up our system with 30 themes is lazy programming. I hope there is a way to delete the unused themes.

can you also please answer the original request why I am getting the error with your installer after unzip. I have wasted too much time on this already.

Thanks for the input on this Dennis, yes we are considering moving out those themes as a separate package.

Are you trying to install this on a local install or on a staging site? If it is a staging site, can you please provide us with the access so that we can look into this?

That error that you are getting seems like your initial upload wasn't correct.

I have downloaded com_easyblog_full_pro_5.0.44_joomla and lauincer again and uploaded to /tmp. On install from folder I get

Warning
JInstaller: :Install: Can't find XML setup file.
Error
Path does not have a valid package.
Unable to find install package

The site is live but behind login I cannot give you access as confidential.

Also tried uploading to /administrator/components/com_easyblog/setup/packages/
and choosing your method but get the same error again see original attachment.

If you cannot resolve the error with your launcher can you organise a refund.
Thanks
Paul

Hey Paul,

You actually do not need to manually upload those installer file into this folder -> /administrator/components/com_easyblog/setup/packages/ , if you didn't increase your PHP upload_max_filesize value, you can try use following method and see how it goes.

1. Upload full installer zip file into your /tmp folder and EXTRACT it -> http://take.ms/JEkEs

2. Then go to your Joomla installer page > click on install from folder tab > set the correct path link to your installation zip file location
screenshot : http://take.ms/fo2Oo

3. After uploaded, then click on 'proceed with installation' button > click next > then select install from directory method and select that component zip file (screenshot : https://www.screencast.com/t/ENGzDC9qjMPX ) then click next.

keep us update if this method still unable to make installation complete.

I am sorry that I didn't realised above error in your previous reply, I suspect your `Install from Folder tmp path` is not set correctly from your site, that is why you hitting this error.

You can check my video here, http://screen.stackideas.com/Screencast_00-06_08-03-2017.mp4 it work fine when using my method what i described at above.

Since you did mentioned you can't provide us with your site details, perhaps you can give me one more chance to help you solve this installation issue to use Teamviewer to remote control on your desktop? So I can able to check on your site at the same time you also can monitor me as well.

Hello Arlex,

No team viewer sorry we are behind firewall etc. No changes ports are closed.

The path I am using is correct its the default linux path /tmp/stack where stack is the folder I created and uploaded to your zip archive to perms are 777.

Are you saying I have to unzip the archive on the server before doing install from folder ?

OK got it installed after unzipping in folder. if you check this thread you will see that I explained the error message in the very first post. It has taken over a week to resolve this and I've wasted at least a day trying to get this to work.

Firstly I think you should make all of your forum posts public as this would have been easily resolved within the community.

Secondly I appreciate you have to make a profit however I'm fed up with developers using ticket systems to force subscription renewals for their extensions in order to get support rather than provide through a public forum. This has become very common with Joomla developers and in my opinion this is against the ethos of open source.

Hello Paul,

Thanks for your input on this but the reason that we allow forum posts to be private was because users are requesting for a private place where they can post their questions.

I do agree that every posts should be made public to share information across and as a matter of fact, this is one of the reasons why we moved from our private ticketing helpdesk to our forums but generally people prefer to have private discussions due to privacy concerns.
