Hi!

As the title say, I need to import all the articles from an older version of Joomla (2.5.28) and EZblog (3.9) to the latest version of Joomla and EZblog.
What should I do?

I need to do this because the old site is the one that is in use and the newest version is the old site copy all upgraded in a local environment and modified. The last thing to do before the publish of the updated version is get all the articles.

Hope it's all clear.

Thank you in advance!
Hey,

We actually have a guide for this that is available at https://stackideas.com/docs/easyblog/administrators/migrations/migrating-easyblog-to-different-site

Can you follow this guide and give this a try?

Excuse me, but this guide says:

Make sure that the EasyBlog on the origin site is having the same version of the new site. If it not, please do so.

It's impossible for me to update easyblog at the same version also in the "old" website, because i need to update the entire Joomla installation and this is not a one minute work as you know.

Is it possible that in a payed plugin doesn't exists a function that can import from the old version to the newest one? A one package import?

I need to launch the updated website and in this one is already installed the Latest EasyBlog version.

Thank in advance.

Hey,

Hm, how did you migrate your Joomla site? Are you migrating or are you performing the Joomla upgrade directly on the site?

So, i'm not going to upgrade the current version, because the upgrade from the old joomla and the newest one requires a lot of work with themes, other plugins and because i've already done other mod on all the contents, and I've just done all this in the production version.

So, when I can, i'm going to replace the current site with akeeba.

Also the current published site can't be offline for more than 1 hour.

Sorry but not too sure if I understand you correctly here but let me try to get this right.

1. Will you be setting up another development site to upgrade to the latest version of Joomla?

2. If so, how about the existing data from the production site?

Ok Mark.

So I have two Joomla installation, basically the same website, but the second is in production, the first was published years ago.
The second one is born a few months ago because the published one needs to be updated from Joomla 2.5 and it was necessary also to update EZblog because there were some issues with EZblog 3.9 and the latest of Joomla.

Now, I only need to import the blog content from the version that is online (joomla 2.5 and EZblog 3.9) to the version that is ready to launch (Latest of Joomla and EZblog).

Hope it's all clear.

Thank you.

For avoid some confusion here can you state that the below clarification:

1. Production site A running Joomla 2.5 and EasyBlog 3.9

2. Production site B running Joomla 3.8.x and EasyBlog 5.1.x

It is now you would like to export all the blog post from production site A into production site B?

All right,

post(A) ---> post(B)

and after this I'm able to delete site A and upload the site B (updated version).

Hi there,

It make us have a clearer vision now thanks. Okay here is what you have to do:
1. On your site B you need to uninstall EasyBlog and drop the easyblog tables in your database #__easyblog_* so it will be a clean Joomla site without any EasyBlog component and data
2. You can simply follow the steps in the documentation https://stackideas.com/docs/easyblog/administrators/migrations/migrating-easyblog-to-different-site (ignore 'Make sure that the EasyBlog on the origin site is having the same version of the new site. If it not, please do so.')
3. Once you already import all the easyblog table from site A to site B, and now you can install the EasyBlog (go to your dashboard and download the installer) and install the EasyBlgog as usual, afraid not, once it undergo the installation it actually go through the maintenance script to update your old table to a latest one.
4. Then, if all is okay, you need to do the last step shows in the documentation, where to copy all your media files from site A to site B

info:
#_ change it to your database table prefix
backup your site

Hi there,

Is it possible for you to provide us with the back end and FTP access to your site to check on this issue?

You can add the information needed by edit your first post in the Details section or you can just include your site's access once at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site rather than needing to keep adding them in your replies

I have some questions:

How can I import the new media files?
How can I see the "latest post" and "flash news" as in the old site?

If you need, I've made another installation of this website before I've worked in the database.

I've added the previous version to my first post description

Ok so the blog page is working now, but I don't know how to add all the things left and the layout same as it was previously.

On your previous site, it seems like you have published some modules on the right (sidebar-a). I have published both the modules for you on the sidebar.

How can I import the new media files?

Not too sure what do you mean here. Can you please elaborate more on this please?

How can I see the "latest post" and "flash news" as in the old site?

On your old site, you have published the ticker and latest blogs module on maintop-b . I have published them for you now.

Hi Mark!

Thank you for your precious help, for the media I mean the ones that are in the site A (where I've dropped the easyblog database).

So now I'm going to deactivate the modules in the blog page that I've noticed are repeated!

Lastly I need to translate the "read more" and other things and to load the media left! I'm gonna try to do this!

I don't really understand which media are you referring to. Could you provide us with a screenshot?

Translations are done in the language file which is in /language/en-GB/en-GB.com_easyblog.ini . If you are on a different language, you need to edit the respective language file.

I'm done with the translations! Thank!

The media that I'm referring are the ones of the newest articles imported from the other website!
