We just noticed (since our mail notifications are being sent again) that the images are not shown in the mails, instead a broken image link is shown. This is not great...

See attached screenshot.

This specific case relates to new post notification from a Closed Group.

I'm sorry, I've created a test post with image in your site. You might want to delete the post in your linkedin, twitter and facebook. However, may I know, which post that I can use to replicate the issue? Can you also provide you FTP access?

Why exactly did you do 'autoposting' to our social networks (and also without notifying us of that firstly)? This Forum Post (ticket) has nothing to do with EasyBlog at all, we are referring to a post in EasySocial within a Group. The notification email sent to the users of that Group when images or and update with images were posted does not include the images, but broken image links....

Please do not post to our social networks without clearing that with us in the first instance. It appears extremely unprofessional to our users.

Now, back to the issue of notification (alert) emails sent from EasySocial when a new post is made has broken image links in email.

Furthermore: PLEASE do not post any posts on our public spaces without checking this with us. There is a Test User account and there are Test Groups specifically created for these tests. Please make use of those.... And then I still do not understand why you created a blog post to test this issue, please read our original post.

Note: Please make use of existing Test Users and Test Groups (do not create new ones please). You may just need to enable the user or group as they are always disabled after testing....

Hello Andrew,

Sorry for the confusion earlier. I thought it was from Easyblog. It won't happen again. Let's move to the issue. You have said there is a test user and test group for this issue. For the testing part, may I create one more testuser that registered using my email? So that I can post as OpgroeiGids Service and testuser will receive the email notification. I will be able to check the output in my email.

Nick, you already created a new test user and deleted it again??? Do you need to do it again now>? Will you be posting in the test group (not public)? As these emails relates to Group Stream updates/posts.

Hello Andrew,

I believe this issue is happening is because of the Amazon Remote Storage. When you post an image, it will use your server storage and the email is generated with the image URL link to your internal server storage. Once the cronjob executed, Easysocial will upload all the images to the remote storage (Amazon) and will delete the original image file in your internal storage (Based on this option: http://screencast.com/t/o7wq6vIK0Izs ). That's why the email can't load the image since it still using the old URL (internal storage).

BTW, when was that option added to the AWS settings in ES as I definitely can not recall it being there when we originally configured this?

Hello Andrew,

By default, Easysocial will delete the file once it has uploaded to the remote storage (without any setting to change the behavior). Then, Mark has added the option to choose whether not to delete the original file after upload which, in my opinion, has defeat the purpose of having remote storage.

However, I've consulted with the team. Currently, there is no fix for this yet. We will push this in the next major release of Easysocial where Easysocial will upload the photo to the amazon on the fly. Means, the time user post a photo, it will directly upload to the remote storage without waiting for the cron to execute.

For now, we will provide a temporary fix where no image will be included in the email if the remote storage option is enable. Is it okay for you?

mmm, not really best as images attracts attention to drive traffic... Question: Why does the images from our tests this morning show on the mails, but the clients group post message 'never' showed the image at all? see attachments:

What timeframe to get this resolved or next major update?

My best guess is the image hasn't get uploaded to Amazon yet. Hence, the original image is still in your server. I'm sorry but we don't have the exact ETA for this to get resolved or the next major release.

As for the text placement, please replace the attached files in:
../media/com_easysocial/apps/group/story/story.php
../media/com_easysocial/apps/group/story/themes/default/emails/html/new.post.php
and see how it goes.

For the mobile view issue, can you elaborate more because it does looks fine to me.
