I've done some research on the social Networks over a period of 4-5 days. Suppose you have a new startup that no one has ever heard of. You'd think a social network as big as facebook would allow you to get noticed..... Now remembering the old old Myspace days, your brand could take off, there was no limit to the people you could reach out to. That's how Facebook reached out to so many people when they went public. Facebook understands how the system works.

Facebook, Twitter and VK is monitoring your business pages depending on what it is. If your page has anything to do with something that could possibly threaten them, they will give your page limited access to users, but just enough for you not to notice the little things they do.

I created a page which looked like a legitimate new startup. Then I posted 7 of the same exact post, using the same exact hashtags...... On VK, I was getting mad views and as soon as I posted a description of a social business site, my views completely stopped. On Facebook as soon as I described the page, they wouldn't allow me to search/view hashtags that pertained to my business. On Twitter, when you search hashtags the first page you see is "Top" hashtags, then you click the "All" to see others. Although my post were getting more activity than the post on the "Top" page. They still placed my post on the "All" page and not the one everyone sees. On Myspace I got nothing from anything or anyone.

Now we get to Google plus. They send your post through a system like a time bomb. A system that reaches more people than the old Myspace could ever dream of..... So now you know. Results in screenshot below.

If your business is already established there's really no way for them to stop your page views although they can stop your post views. But if your social business is a fresh startup, do not create a page with Facebook, Twitter or VK, for it will do nothing but hurt your brand. Once your brand is considered uncool, it's hard to come back from that startup reputation.

Because of these results I will never use Facebook, Twitter, Myspace or VK ever again. I am now a die hard Google plus fan.
Oh wow, thanks for sharing this Josh!

Your welcome...

Google Plus allows a nobody to be a somebody and a somebody to be a better somebody whether you pay for features or not. And thats the way things should be.

Also when you create a post with a photo in it on Gplus. The photo has a view count. They will display that post within Gplus for two days and let the view count increase before they allow it to bee seen as if you are not logged in. Giving you a good presence when someone not logged in is viewing your page as a guest. Also giving you time to maybe delete the post if you later decide maybe it wasn't a good post. They let your post rotate around your page when a guest views it as well, I think the purpose of this is too look like you are constantly posting more than you actually do or make a user think you are online working on the page.

Statistics on Gplus give you a 2 day headstart. You will not actually see your post results or photo views for 2 days.

Haha, they won't send me one either. They sent my brother one 3 months ago. At the moment they only send you one if your a hard core google only finatic. Inbox is not really that impressive, but I didn't play with it very long either and it may have changed a little since I got to check it out.

I'll say this. If your an everyday user, not a business, I choose VK as my top choice. The reason I say this is because I had a good time playing around with VK, listening to my favorite tunes as I flipped through pages. Much better than Facebook, Gplus and Twitter as far as a users point-of-view.

As a business I would choose Gplus. The views from Gplus are mostly from the internet or Google search. They actually place the hashtag content images/post on the hashtag Google search pages and you know what kind of traffic that generates. If Gplus would make it more user friendly then maybe they could dominate, as of right now it seems like it would be confusing (Circles, thier circles, your circles, my circles, people in your circles???) for an everyday Facebook or Twitter user. But to me the funtionality of Gplus is pretty awesome

Hi Josh,

Thank you so much for sharing your findings. Yes, Mark have also informed me that we should more active on G+. Personally I believe that G+ has a very nice interface but I believe major social networking (cough Facebook cough) have implemented their brands so well that it's hard for people to move away from it.

Just an honest opinion.

You know if Myspace classic would have had the privacy functionalities we have today and the new owners would not have changed it all up, it would still be the number one social site today..... Nothing has ever compared to the Myspace Classic.

Haha, Myspace classic was awesome. I remember I opened a Facebook account, as soon as I logged in, I laughed and logged out, because it sucked at the moment. There was nothing on the FB site whatsoever. It had a few fields for you to fill out, a profile pic and like a way to sorta blog/comment.

The new Mspace is junk. When Tom Anderson sold out, it upset 50% of its loyal users. That was good for Facebook considering they had already spammed the entire site with 1000's of fake users inviting people to Facebook - Something that is impossible to do on Facebook. Then Google purchased it $560 million and confused the hell out of everyone on the site by completely changing everything. Then the old dude purchased it and didn't have a clue - I think he figured it was going to take care of itself. Now the Vanderhooks have it - they thought everyone would like to scroll left-to-right, man was that a bad idea. And they have more flash on the site than a fireworks show. There search functionality is the best I've seen, but everything else about the new Myspace is just bass ackwards

Myspace classic was owned by Tom Anderson a nerdy, cool kinda funny guy, who didn't take crap from anyone. Tom stopped focusing and interacting with the users, started focussing on the money and sold out.

Then Zuck came along, a new nerdy, cool kinda funny guy, who doesn't take crap from anyone. Who seemed like he cared about the users. Facebook did not have 1/3 of the features of Myspace, but he gained the trust of the users. Now it's clearly obvious that he doesn't care about his users and the users see that.

Now here comes Ello. It's like watching Deja Vu all over again. Although it does not have 1/3 of the features of Facebook. The new guy is a nerdy, cool kinda funny guy, who doesn't take crap from anyone and doing a good job at mocking FB. Although it doesn't seem logical, you mark my words, Ello is the new Facebook and they will be the ones to bring down the giant. The same exact media attention and criticism was given to Facebook over Myspace and people laughed. They just couldn't see such a site without features taking the giant off it's pedastol. But it happened and it's happening again... That is unless Gplus interceeds.

Hey Josh, stop bringing back those good old memories!

I remember back in my school days and college days, when MySpace was the talk of the town. You're a noob when you don't have any MySpace account.

Well, if you ask me, personally MySpace is a little bit too 'bright' when they gave the users control to edit their own profile page. People started to put bright images, marquee texts and whatnots. I personally shifted to Facebook (even though back in those days, Facebook is just another plain jane), because Facebook offers the more 'quiet' and 'simple' interface.

It's either that, or I was getting old and can't tolerate flashing texts and images.

Ello is something new which I only knew from you. I'll check it out later; let's see if history repeats itself.

Haha, I agree, I almost forgot about the cheesy flashy stuff. If only you could have html without out allowing certain html, but we know that's not possible.

I noticed today when you post a video on Gplus, it now post it as a comment under the video on Youtube as well. Another good way to put yourself out there

All the social networking sites have there ups and downs. I'm going to continue to root for Gplus, I think it's a magnificent product that just needs some user friendly tweaking.
