I just upgraded EasySocial and configured the Akismet and the CleanTalk apps the day before yesterday. Now I am being blocked from making comments on my site.

This is the message I am getting on the following page: https://www.drcarney.com/club :

"The system has flagged your message as a spam. Please try again"

Can you give me directions as to how I can change the settings to not cause this to happen. I do post often to the site replying to people, etc... and wonder if that is why this is happening?

This is NOT happening to our Komento comments. it is only happening to our EasySocial comments.

I have solved this problem temporarily by turning off the Akismet application from within EasySocial. But, that does not seem like the correct solution to this problem. :-)

Thank you, Sean Carney
Hi Sean,

Seems like there is a bug regarding this,I've apply temporary fix in the file:
.../media/com_easysocial/apps/user/akismet/akismet.php
and I've logged this into our issue tracker and our developer will take an action for this

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation Sean.

Hey Sean,

Cleantalk has throttling where if you send a message in between messages too quickly, it would think that you are trying to spam the system. Is this only happening on conversations?

I thought it could be the CleanTalk throttling at first. Then I disabled the CleanTalk app but the problem still happened. So, I felt like I had ruled out CleanTalk and so turned it back on.

I then did the same with the new Akismet app. I turned if off and I was able to post ES comments. I then turned it on again and was immediately NOT able to post ES comments. I have tested this back and forth a few times now and am pretty sure it is the Akismet.

But, what strikes me as really odd is that I am using the same Akismet key for my Komento setup as I just entered into for my EasySocial setup.

The only difference is that Komento gives us an option that the EasySocial implementation does not give which is the option to not just block but to also place the message into a queue for approval. It does not seem like that would make the difference but what I see now is that I am blocked from posting comments on ES streams but I am not blocked from posting comments with Komento.

I have a message in to Akismet as well just in case they have a way for me to see why I may be being blocked from posting with the EasySocial Akismet application.

Sean

PS. I am keeping the Akismet turned on for EasySocial in case anybody wants to see it. But, when I want to post a comment to an EasySocial stream I login to the backend and turn off the Akismet application in EasySocial. Then I am able to post. Once I have posted I turn the Akismet back on from the backend. :-)
