You don't really assign someone to a "moderator" state but rather, you create a Joomla user group (You may call it moderator) and then assign the "Moderate" permissions in the category settings as you can see here, http://take.ms/gr7tj

It is actually already documented at https://stackideas.com/docs/easydiscuss/administrators/how-tos/how-to-assign-moderators-in-easydiscuss . Was the documentation unclear for you? Perhaps we need to look into the documentation again.

I just wanted to ask a relevant question here.
The documentation you referenced had the feature where you can manually add an individual user to moderate a category. That appears to be outdated and is no longer an option in easydiscuss:

Will this feature be coming back?
Can you update the documentation?
My old individual moderator assignments are also still working correctly, from before I upgraded easydiscuss.

We have no plans to implement back that feature.

We will also try our best to update the documentation.

I really need to be able to assign a person to the category or I will have 100+ groups. We have forums for brands that are ran by those people and they need to be able to mod.

OMG ... seriously .... this is a core functional requirement and why I bought this and have spent the last 36 hours trying to get everything set up .... and now you don't have the functionality specifically shown in your documentation !!!!!

All you need to do is to create a new Joomla user group and call it moderator, then assign the user into this group. In the category, you just need to assign the new joomla user group that you have created with the moderation permissions.

The documentation really does need updating. The problem is that if you do as asked i.e. read the docs first before posting you waste time and get frustrated.

It is much better to be able to assign users as moderators, otherwise if you have lots of individuals you need to create multiple ACL groups. That is long-winded and open to error.

I hope that the feature to add users as moderators will be re-introduced.
