Hey there community,

I would like to know if you guys are interested in pushing some features that might still take a while or are some kind of extraordinary by financing them together? Just in case that Stackideas is fine with this concept.

I know that the developers here are VERY busy providing an outstanding support and at the same time developing new software and improving the existing one plus adding new features. Of course all of this will take its time.

Customisations for customers like we are generate more income for the developers and therefor they can get more people to work. So why not get together and get our wishes done with customisations that we buy together beside the usual development?

I would i.e. be very interested in some people getting together to get web push notifications for ES notifications done as quick as possible as well as the mobile web app template. To have this development accelerated we would need to buy a customisation and I would like to know if someone might think the same way and thinks that splitting the price apart would make it more possible to afford.

I would be very interested in the opinion of the community as well as the Stackideas staff itself about this way of customisations.
I second this idea Sponsoring for features is also another way of funding the project.

Hi all

I am bumping this thread because I really think we could do great things here together. Also I am sure there are more people here that are thinking like Sabih and me. Let us all make our dream apps come true faster and make something big together. Let us all help Stackideas out making what we all want namely the best Social Media Component for Joomla.

How about pushing the idea to have Stackideas make paid membership possible rather sooner then later. I think with combined forces, sponsoring for a customization like this would be great for all of us. I also have bought PayPlans from Ready Bytes, but I would rather have Stackideas make their own app for us and be able to rely on their knowledge and support which is more then great and helpful.

Lets see what we can do together shall we?

Anything that we as a group could agree on. Right now I am thinking of Paid Membership app instead of using third party apps such as payplans or similar. Nothing to big just an app for ES.

Think about it like a sponsoring or donating toward something we all would like to have. This would cut the price for each sponsor and make stuff happen faster and logically help out Stackideas financially and cover all costs making this apps or addons.

For example I sponsored making the app Profile Unlocker if we would have been about four people sponsoring this we could have mayebe make a other app happen which we all would have agree on.

This sure would have to happen in collaboration with SI

Hi Guys

I love the idea here but am on a really tight budget.
Maybe when I start making money off my site then I can chip in…
@ Jean-Marc Burri I love your app and as soon as I have some cash to spare will buy it!
Anything that would help convert points into discounts in a shop would also be a very cool addition,

I tried PayPlans and hated it
Found the documentation a nightmare & simple support questions took weeks.

I have tried Hikashop and love it.
The developers seem to be really on the ball!
I have the free version up and running on my site.
It took me a couple of days to set up and works after 2/3 support questions!

My wish list is short:

1) Hika Shop integration.
2) OS Campus integration.
3) Tighter JReviews integration.

all the best

Hello everyone !

I thank Sabih for this initiative. It is true that we all have ideas to improve EasySocial. Many of us suggest them to the Stackideas team, in the hope that they will materialize in the near future.
But of course they can not respond every one of our requests.

You are right, pay to get the customizations you want is the solution !
Personally, I would like Stackideas to develop a monetization solution through advertising. A system equivalent to Ad Agency, but with the know-how of Stackideas. Perhaps the team has already planned to do this. In any case I imagine this advertising system grafted to Paid Membership app (scheduled for EasySocial 2.1), which will already handle payment transactions.

What exactly does it mean: Sponsoring for features ?
Jean-Marc, you financed the development of the application Profile Unlocker, and in return you perceive a commission when people buy it ?

Thank you.

No, i do not receive any commissions in any way. I just needed this Profile Unlocker as fast as possible. And I was willing to pay SI to make this happen as soon as possible. Look at it this way, SI has a road map which they are working on maybe they would have released Profile Unlocker a year from now but I needed it now. So I made a deal with SI to make it now rather then in one year.

For me this was a no brainer, because it helps out SI in developing awesome stuff and you guys also get to profit from it

I was thinking the same a few days ago,

would make collaborating with each other a bit easier. We could add groups with ideas where we all would agree on and make stuff happen

Interesting idea! We actually did thought about this a year ago to start a community site directly on our site. But we were having doubts about that because people would start abusing the community and start using that to post their support questions.

Since we have better control over the licensing right now and EasySocial is able to restrict people from posting, perhaps this would come into place later this year.

We will take care to moderate some users in order to avoid any inappropriate use.
Indeed, this site should not become a duplicate of your forum.

Yes Philippe,

that is what I thought too. You could always dedicate some volunteers which would take care off things and give you guys a helping hand. Like that you could focus on important stuff and your community would come up with great Ideas and help push new stuff.

Hi Guys

Time for another German proverb (by the way I am not german) :

“Die Schuster tragen die schlechtesten Schuhe”

Which translates as the “The Shoe maker wears the worst shoes!”

We use Easy Social to build Communities and yet do not have a community to help community builders.

We should throw off our flip flops

And put real shoes on!

I for one would be happy to help out in any way I can…

all the best

Hello !
Personnately, I would like to have an application to integrate EasyDiscuss into EasySocial Pages.
On the same model as the applications to integrate EasyBlog in the Pages.

I will really need it, and I would like to speed up its availability by paying Stackideas.

So can you tell me how is it done in practice ?
And by the way, are other people interested in participating?

Thank you very much.

Discussions App integration is my priority also and I also see merit in a lot of other integrations.

I'm curious how large an effort that is and would be excited to get it started as soon as possible.

Taking a cue from kickstarters might work well if we set thresholds of features and funding so we could get a minimum viable feature set completed soon and as people saw the value they could "buy into" completing the larger feature sets.

Sounds like Jean-Marc and Mark had some success making this work before so getting an idea of what next actions might make this easiest and most pleasant for the Stack Ideas team.

I am sure they have thousands of ideas of things that have been more "nice to have"s than "need to have"s but maybe if we can identify our own wish list and start to quantify the resources we are willing to put behind them than we could get some process going.

I propose some collaboration on generating a menu or a roadmap of our collective desires in some form which we can opt into each to indicate level of interest and projected financial commitment.

Maybe the team already uses some planning tool which they could open up to our input? If not we could use a smart sheet or google doc?

Meanwhile I think it is not as easy as I thought to get together into group buying custom work. Only Stackideas knows what is going on in the background and due to this it is hard to estimate the possibilities.

If there are a lot of people asking for custom work but do not make them final due to costs, it could make sense to implement something for this into this site. But as I said before, only the Stackideas team can say this since we users got no idea of the amount of interested people. Since there are not many people posting in this forum I would say that many customers do not use this forum and therefor this way of finding people for group buying seems to be not very efficient.

So what about this example:

I have an idea and ask for custom work. All details about the custom work are done and the price is set for 500$. Now I can select group buying which costs me the amount of money, the thing will be sold afterwards, in this example let's say 50$.
At this moment I make a pending payment of 50$ and all customers get an email with this custom work and the possibility to make a pending payment of 50$ as well. The moment that 500$ are reached, the thing will be done. If there will be only 5 participants which made a pending payment, they will get asked if they will rise there payment to 100$ to make this done anyway. Else they get their pending money back and nothing happens..

Something like kickstarter, nothing new at all. On this way it "might" be possible to find more people willing to participate. The talk about the details before starting this could be talked about in the forums. Not sure if this could work, not sure if Stackideas is interested. I just have some freetime at the moment and thought about sharing my thoughts.

I asked Mark a quote for an EasyDiscuss Page App.
It costs $ 450.

Who agrees to finance this application with me ?
