Hi,

I would like to set up my site to look a little more like facebook for the guests (no posts / feeds etc to be seen).
Please see attached.
Can you please let me know:

- How do i get rid of the "Community" button at the top?
- How do i get rid of News Feed, Recent Album, Leaderboard and Recent Updates? It's ok for those to be there and show information once people register and have friends. But i do not need those modules there before someone registers.
- I posted a few posts as Administrator on the page and i noticed if i left it for everyone to see, it would show up on the home page when someone visits. Not that i want this feature on but what would happen if i had more members, who's posts would show up on the homepage to the guests? (provided the other members had it set for everyone to see?
- Can i create a footer menu?
- How i can set it up so that even once someone signs in and is a registered user, they do not see anyone's posts unless they go to their profiles or if they have friends on there?
- How come my maps does not detect my location. nothing happens.
- What are the implications of making the site 100% width? (would this effect effect how it displays on phones?)
- Is there an App for EasySocial or is the 'Responsiveness' so good that it's very convenient for members to just use the site address?
- Is the SocialAds app the only way to put advertising on the site? (Adsense)

Sorry for the many questions.
Thanks guys.
It okay, but I would always encourage our user post in separate thread with your new question so we can manage your issue easier and you will get faster response from our multiple moderators.

- How do i get rid of the "Community" button at the top?

Actually that one is the menu module, you can disable it from backend > extension > module > select type 'menu' and disable it (screenshot : http://take.ms/KAUGJ ).

- How do i get rid of News Feed, Recent Album, Leaderboard and Recent Updates? It's ok for those to be there and show information once people register and have friends. But i do not need those modules there before someone registers.

You can take a look of my following screenshot to disable it :
http://take.ms/DAv4J
http://take.ms/zKJxG
http://take.ms/aYmaa
But the "New Feed" filter will appear when the user logged in.

- I posted a few posts as Administrator on the page and i noticed if i left it for everyone to see, it would show up on the home page when someone visits. Not that i want this feature on but what would happen if i had more members, who's posts would show up on the homepage to the guests? (provided the other members had it set for everyone to see?

And the Recent update section disabled it when the guest user access the page, you have to download my attached file and put into this file location -> JoomlaFolder/templates/YourCurrentTemplate/dashboard/guests/default.php (you have to manually create those new folder in to template file location).

- Can i create a footer menu?

Do you mean you would like to show some menu appear on the page footer?
If yes, that is possible to do it, you can check my following screenshot how to do it.
http://take.ms/Fsk3n
http://take.ms/ThNpa
https://www.screencast.com/t/9zK6fwRq
http://take.ms/UgmvA
https://www.screencast.com/t/zM1FmoLWXykf

- How i can set it up so that even once someone signs in and is a registered user, they do not see anyone's posts unless they go to their profiles or if they have friends on there?

You have to set the default privacy from backend > Easysocial > profile type > select your profile type > privacy > screenshot : http://take.ms/Mpeio

- How come my maps does not detect my location. nothing happens.

If you browse your website on Chrome browser, your website have to support SSL (https) in order to allow to use detect location function, this is required from the Google.

But I believe you haven't setup Google Map API from your Google account, you can follow my instruction how to set it up.
1. Go to this page -> https://console.developers.google.com/iam-admin/projects
2. Create project and check my video here : http://screencast.com/t/xnfoJH8vx
3. This is the page for activate the APIs key -> https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key
4. enter you API key into Easysocial setting -> http://take.ms/VQKUu

- What are the implications of making the site 100% width? (would this effect effect how it displays on phones?)

Yes, It will affected on the mobile view, unless you customise for those CSS layout.
By the way, what do you think this Echo template -> http://echo.stackideas.com/ , I believe this layout will suitable with your requirement.

- Is there an App for EasySocial or is the 'Responsiveness' so good that it's very convenient for members to just use the site address?

Currently we do not have any mobile app for Easysocial, but our partner already build it, perhaps you can take a look of this page -> https://stackideas.com/apps/item/3021-easysocial-app

- Is the SocialAds app the only way to put advertising on the site? (Adsense)

Yes, that is correct.

Hey Arlex, on the below issue and solution, i do want those to show after the user registers and signs in.
Is that possible?

- How do i get rid of News Feed, Recent Album, Leaderboard and Recent Updates? It's ok for those to be there and show information once people register and have friends. But i do not need those modules there before someone registers.

You can take a look of my following screenshot to disable it :

http://take.ms/aYmaa
But the "New Feed" filter will appear when the user logged in.

Also this issue below, the only path to a default.php file that i have is public_html>components>com_easysocial>themes>vortex>toolbar>default.php

my Joomla install is on the main folder.
So i created the path: public_html>templates>protostar>dashboard>guests> and i download your file and put it in there but still showing on Recent Updates bar. What did i do wrong?

I would also like to get rid of the rest of that stuff you can see in the attached file.

thank you.

it seems like I pointed you wrong file location, it should be JoomlaFolder/templates/YourCurrentTemplate/html/com_easysocial/dashboard/guests/default.php , it shouldn't populate that recent feed on your login page now.

You're welcome Ben

I am sorry for missed out your another question from your previous reply.

But I think as long as your homepage didn't show that recent feed section, public user will not see any stream on your site.

After following the steps laid out as instructed, everything works as intended. The one issue i am having is after adjusting all the settings as recommended, when a guest visits my website, they still have access to everything from the toolbar at the top of the screen. Is there a way to disable that toolbar so that guest cannot view anything on my site at all. I would like it set up so that when a guest visits my site, they do not have access to anything until they log in.

Hey Don,

It would be best if you can start a new thread so it will help us manage your issue easier.

By the way, you can enabled lockdown mode from your backend > easysocial > general > Enable Lockdown + Allow Registrations During Lockdown - YES to achieve this.

Hi Arlex, so back to this. I am going to attempt to create the links attached based on your instructions.
Would these links automatically link to a page or a pop up?
Where would i go to create the actual content for those pages?

thanks

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Regarding this section, i would suggest you to create custom module for this.

I just help you create a custom module on your site, you have to add your HTML code to populate those link on the page.

You can access this link :
https://ReplaceToYourSiteDomain.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_modules&view=module&layout=edit&id=135

Hello Ben,

We can't actually provide the link because Joomla needs a "token" and we don't have that token as they are stored when the modules page is being rendered to you. Anyway this is what you can do, http://take.ms/9irOl

hey Mark, thank you for the further description. I went by your print-screen and created the text on the bottom.

Can you please help me create pages and link to them.

Also the Contact Us page i would like it to be a simple contact form with a few fields if you can guide me there also.

I much appreciate your help on this.

Hello Ben,

I am really sorry but this is actually beyond the scope of our support but we'll do this just this once. However, I would need to have the links that you want to use and the text as well?

Mark I really appreciate this. Sorry to be a burden.

So i would need to have pages created called Our Mission, Contact Us, Privacy, Terms & Conditions. Though is there a way of just having a pop up window for terms & conditions just like you have a registration (see attached).

Once the pages are created, i can go in and edit in the text needed.

For the Contact Us page i would need the fields: Name, Email, Textbox. And on the bottom of the form after the Submit button just have a simple line of text saying:
We will endeavor to respond within 48hrs.
You can also reach us at info2@redeemed.ro

Please let me know if you need anything else.
Thank you

Hello Ben,

I have modified the behavior of the module and instead of using a custom html module, I created a menu module where it will pick the menu links from the "Footer" menu which I have created for you.

All the links in the footer menu are linked to Joomla articles, so you could edit those articles

Hey Mark, I really appreciate your help on this. Whilst it looks great in a way, this menu can detract from the main site, kinda making it like a mini footer menu. The article pages also look very Blog-like with all the extra data and even arrow buttons to go from one to the next.

I was wanting just basic clean links on the bottom that do not stand out and that link to clean looking pages that only contain the main content and not other data information.

I can even go the route of the customizations if it can be done as soon as possible.

Please let me know. Thank you.

Hello Ben,

Ah sorry should have seen that. These are very much the strengths of Joomla and you can easily turn off those options under the menu parameters. I have turned this off for you and those navigation and other details are no longer showing up.

You can configure it if you want by accessing Menu > Footer and clicking on any of the menu item. Then, under the "Options" tab, you should be able to find these layout options

Is there anyway of disabling the mouse over effect for the links?

You can apply this following css into your template css file
JoomlaFolder/templates/YourCurrentTemplate/html/com_easysocial/css/custom.css (you have to manually create those new folder/file from your template directory folder)

#es a:hover,
#es a:focus {
color: #0088cc !important;
}

Also, can you pls point me in the right direction where i could learn to create a form on the contact us article?

Regarding this, i believe you have to learn how to use HTML code to create a form from article page is because there do not have a way to auto generate the form into the article content, unless you would like to render one of the registration form module into this "Contact us" article page.

By the way, I would suggest you start a new thread with your new question on our forums so it will help us easier manage your issue because we have multiple moderator working at the same time, you will get the faster response as well.

Hello Ben,

As long as it is stored in the path of JoomlaFolder/templates/YourCurrentTemplate/html/com_easysocial/css/custom.css , you don't have to worry about minor updates
