Hi,

I need to achieve a whole load of things that none of the current social network providers currently produce (which I now realize are niche to me). I can't afford to wait until a developer creates them anymore, and don't think its fair to ask them to create niche products I want (and when it comes to needing more work on them, the upkeep financially of that). So decided to give it a go myself (just some simple applications for my own needs). My question is, I am dabbling with both Fabrik and Joomla Component Creator (which is shown as a partner with StackIdeas) at the moment, but not sure which (if any is the best option).

Wih Fabrik, their component has to be installed on every site that I want to install whatever application I create (for me this is not an issue, as I am only looking to develop for my site). However, I would like to know which will be best to work with from an EasySocial perspective, as this is what I want to develop my applications for - for myself (I am looking for the easiest solution to work with - not being a coder. My questions are:

Which is easier for a novice to learn who has little knowledge of codeing?
Which integrates best (or has ability to integrate best) with EasySocial?
Which (of the above but including other applications I am not aware of) would stack ideas recommend?
Is there any help/guidance for someone looking to head down this path i.e. on integrating Joomla components into stackideas products?

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated

Hello Mel,

Perhaps you might want to elaborate more on what you are trying to achieve? Your question is pretty vague that I don't really know what you are trying to achieve here

Hi Mark,

apologies if it wasn't clear.

My site is being used to manage projects rather than to socialise and I need some kind of application that sits in the groups component (a bit like the task list but with more features for project management). I tried using Fabric, and built a very simple list component to test whether I could use it, and it seems to be ok. So my question was really whether Fabric components can be integrated into EasySocial, or whether this is too complicated a process?

I also discovered Joomla Component Creator and saw in their list of partnerships, stackideas, so wondered if it would be better to work with that?

Does that make any more sense?

Hello Mel,

I think you need to explore a little bit more on what you are trying to achieve. If you ask me, buying EasySocial is simply just a platform where you build your ecosystem around it. You can't just expect paying $99 and getting everything to work as how you want it to be

And to be really honest with you, anything is possible regardless of whatever extension you use. In fact, you could just build your stuffs around EasySocial if you were to get someone into your team. For instance, believe it or not, our entire billing system is a building block that sits on top of EasyDiscuss

I don't expect that - hence why I am trying to teach myself, as enjoy learning new things.

I was really only asking whether you could recommend one or the other (in terms of which would be easiest to build things for my easysocial).

Not to worry, I will just play around with both and see how I get on.

Hello Mel,

Ah, I see. I really think what you should do is to build your extension from scratch. This way, it gives you more flexibility and control
