Just realised that the stream posting box doesn't appear on the 'Event Information' view of an event.

When you events set, as I do, to show the 'Event Information' by default then a logged in user has no idea that (s)he can contribute all your wonderful things to the 'Timeline'... do you see what I mean? It reduces the opportunity for user engagement and involvement... so shouldn't the 'stream posting box' (not sure of the right name for it.. but where people can add things to the stream) show at the top of the event info view just like it does at the top of the event timeline view.

(Going forwards my preference remains to combine the 2 views of course.. that's on Voices. People don't want to work hard to find things.. so 1 view, event info at top, stream below is the simplest way to keep EasySocial Easy!)
Hi Andy,

Thanks for your feedback and your suggestion. We will see what we can to improve the user experience on the event page

Have a nice day!

Hi Andy,

That sounds like a good idea. Have you posted this in voice yet?

By the way this request will fall under "customizations" request and I am really sorry but unfortunately we cannot accommodate your request currently as it is beyond our support scope's policy as outlined in http://stackideas.com/support . Hope you understand.

OK I'll put in in Voices. I initially thought it might have been a functionality oversight and something that should have happened by default.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the heads up on this one. To be frank with you, having the story update form in 'Event information' page might confuse user because when a user posted their story update, the story will not appear immediately as the story can only appear in 'timeline' page. This might give the user that the story form not working.

I guess the best way for your user to not miss the story form is to set the 'event default display' to 'Timeline'. You can find this setting at your EasySocial backend under Settings -> Events -> General.

Hope this help and have a nice day!

Thanks Sam.. I agree with what you say re: moving to timeline view by default, but this is somewhat ironic... I began with timeline view by default... but many of my users kept saying "hey can I have some details on this event?" because they were TOTALLY missing the event info view... after all it is only a small link in the left column detail that takes them there.

So I was forced to go to event info view to stop the queries coming in!

I think the heart of the issue is a fundamental user experience one and echoing comments from other threads I really think the 2 views need to be combined to get the best of both worlds. No need to confuse the user with options.. it is after all EasySocial.
