Hello,

I need your support regarding the email notification about activities to the user. I very often have the situation that the user is not logging in and answering the communication within ES – a lot of them are answering directly using their local mail app.

In this case the webmaster is receiving the emails and not the addressed user from the communication.

Is there a way to handle this? I would like to use an email address for this kind of notification where e.g. an error message is shown after answering from a user’s personal mail client….

Thanks for your support!
Hey Horst,
For EasyDiscuss we do have such setting in Settings>Notifications>Emails>Sender Email.
Unfortunately, we do not have such setting for EasySocial, so if you want to change the sender address for EasySocial, you have to modify the sender email address in Joomla's Global Configuration page.

Hello Horst,

To be able to parse e-mails into discussion posts or replies, you need to setup the e-mail parser in EasyDiscuss. The best method for you to set this up is to configure it so that EasyDiscuss picks up from the mailbox from the sender.

Hi Mark,

thanks for your feedback, but there seems to be a misunderstanding...?

If someone likes a post, writes a feedback or sends a personal communication within Easysocial an email will be send to users to inform them. The sender address of this email is e.g. info@xyz.de .... - no issue with this. It is only a notification about activities...

Some of my users are going to respond directly to this notification emails instead of logging in and answering e.g. to the personal communication within the Easysocial communication. Is there a preferred way from the technical view to handle this?

Thanks
Horst

Hi Horst,
We can't really prevent users from replying to the sender of the email. Instead, perhaps you can add a message in the email template file(JoomlaFolder/components/com_easysocial/themes/wireframe/emails/template.php) that mentions the email is just a notification mail and do not reply, example: http://take.ms/ZSEYJ

Hi Raymond,

Yes for sure - is it possible to use for any kind of notification of Easysocial or Easydiscuss a "special" emailadress? Maybe the same, which might not be the Joomla given address?

Thanks

Horst

Hi Raymond,

many thanks for your support and patience! Maybe it would be an idea for one of the next releases...

Hey Horst,
You're welcome.
Actually we did have this setting for EasySocial last time but it was removed due to most email providers don’t allow you to change the sender so most of the time if they change this value, the e-mails would end up in the spam folder. The best way right now is to use whatever that is set in Global Configuration.
