Hi there

A new client has moved their website to new hosting - 1&1 and asked me to re-enable EasySocial on there. They have a huge amount of media/photos from the previous install... around 7GB worth which I've attempted to upload, only to find out thier package - although unlimited space has a 200,000 file storage limit. The only option on offer from 1&1 is to go for a dedicated server at 100 times the price per month.
My question is.. Is it usual for EasySocial to create as many folders/subfolders for media/photos and if so, do you recommend any hosting companies that deal with huge file counts at a resonable price ( for EasySocial use ).
Any help appreciated.

Hey Darren,

You would need to check with them how many photos / videos / users do they have on the site. If there are a lot of these videos and photos, it will definitely take up space since those items are large items

Thanks for the reply.
The concern isn't really file size but the number of files. Is it usual for uploaded EasySocial media files to be in multiple subfolders?
I'm just trying to find out if that's normal for all EasySocial users or if the original developers have configured EasySocial incorrectly which has caused so many folders - in folders - in folders - in folders.
If this is the way it is with EasySocial, then I simply have to inform the client they need to change to a hosting company that doesn't impose quota limits on file numbers.

Hey Darren,

Yep, they are separated into folders so that it would be easier to manage them. For instance, if you have 5 albums with 2 different photos in each of the albums, you would have the following structure:

media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_1]
media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_1]/[photo_id_1]
media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_1]/[photo_id_2]

media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_2]
media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_2]/[photo_id_1]
media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_2]/[photo_id_2]

media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_3]
media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_3]/[photo_id_1]
media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_3]/[photo_id_2]

media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_4]
media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_4]/[photo_id_1]
media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_4]/[photo_id_2]

media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_5]
media/com_easysocial/photos/[album_id_5]/[photo_id_1]

Just need to get the client to move to a hosting company that doesn't have silly file number quotas!
