So far EasyBlog cannot crawl shortened links to grab correct page title and description. I was told this is a limitation when I created a support ticket for this issue. However, I honestly think this is actually a bug to be fixed as soon as possible. A shorten link is simply a link that would be redirected to another link. A link being redirected is quite common in many major web services like Instagram. Most users cannot tell if a link would be redirected or not, since that is the website designer's choice. What they perceive is a flaw, since when they add a link block to an article, sometimes the page's title and description cannot be automatically obtained, and that creates a bad image to our website. Besides, sometimes the links being redirected has no easy way to get their "long" versions, which creates even more frustration to our users.

Please kindly contact your engineering team about this issue to get this problem fixed as soon as possible. Thanks!
May i know which block you using?

If you using link block, it seems I can able to retrieve those page meta title and description , you can check my attached screenshot below.

Arlex,

That's interesting. I indeed used the Links block with the same link you tried, but it doesn't work to me on my server using EasyBlog 5.2.9, the latest version, and the same problem can be reproduced on your demo site http://easyblog.stackideas.com. The attached screenshot was from your demo site. Could you try the same link there?

Yes, that is very strange, based on what i check, that final redirection URL page charset is not support UTF-8 (http://take.ms/rppfE), so the CURL response unable to return the proper character, you can check my screenshot here :

http://take.ms/yFxcv (my locally)
http://take.ms/0APhpm (live test site)

I still unable to figure out why locally can able to retrieve the page content correctly but that is not from the live site.

Can you download my attached file and replace into this file and see how it goes?

JoomlaFolder/administrator/components/com_easyblog/includes/connector/connector.php
