Cometchat compatibility

Hi support,

We installed CometChat on our website and we are facing some issues. One of the issues is the following:

Once the user receives a message, the cometchat window pops up. When we minimize the window (not close it) and a second message is received, the cometchat counter shows a new message as per photo 1 at the bottom and towards the right. If we do not open the cometchat window to view the new message received, after a few minutes the EasySocial counter kicks in as per photo 2 (close to top right corner it shows a new message as well). Now, If we open the cometchat window to view the message, the EasySocial counter still shows the unread message despite the fact that this has been read in the cometchat window.

First step we contacted CometChat support and they let us know that the issue cannot be corrected. Therefore, we are considering the fact to unistall CometChat and move forward with another similar extension.

But, first we would like to ask you:

1. Do you offer custom programming in order to correct the issue?

2. If yes, please provide us with your fee quote.


In addition we are facing other issues, like:
a) Please see photo 4. If we click on the link of the messages dropdown (above the cover photo of the profile) then we are redirected to the EasySocial conversations feature as per photo 5 and not to the CometChat conversation. Thus, the cometchat extension is not so usable. If you are offering custom programming support we would like your quote on this issue as well.

b) After cometchat installation once the user sends a message through the EasySocial conversation feature, each message is sent three times.

If the above seems a lot of a mess can you suggest another chatting extension that integrates better with EasySocial? An extension that avoids the problems mentioned above? What is your opinion about JBolo (We found it in your list of applications)?

JBolo has chat sync which is great and at small price. There are quite a few however. I would suggest Joomla Extensions directory (JED)

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as we were involved in the preparation for the Joomla conference here in Malaysia.

Perhaps you can try JBolo chat system and see is it meet your current requirement.

To be honestly, I never use this app before so I can't give you the exactly answer for you at this point of time.

Dear both,

We saw the demo of JBolo and the group chat feature is not so much developed as in the CometChat extension. Do you know any other extension that has group chat similar to CometChat and it is compatible with EasySocial conversations?

As of now and in the lack of a better extension, we prefer to move forward with CometChat if we can correct the issues that have arisen. Please let me know the following:

Hey Phivos,

I am not really sure if there are any other chatting extensions but I would suggest that you get in touch with Cometchat to customize it for you as they would know their software best.

We contacted CometChat support from the beginning and they declared difficulty to fix the issue that's why we bothered you unfortunately Fortunately, later on they came back informing us that they can fix the issues so you can close the ticket and thank you for your time.
