I experimented and changed the template and even though I changed back to what I had originally one of my main menu items does not work anymore.

I am not sure if this is a changed the template issue or a joomla issue.

Can you advise.

Main Landing page > clicked on News main menu item > SHOULD open article News but just hangs and eventually gives an error message.
Hi Jason,

Seems like I'm hitting the error:
Error: Failed to start application: SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 2006 MySQL server has gone away

Perhaps, can you try the solution here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10474922/error-2006-hy000-mysql-server-has-gone-away and see how it goes?

Thanks for that. I will find a coder to do it. I will leave the thread open for now.

ok found a coder and he has been exploring.

Expected behaviour

I have a news page which should show a series (approx 8) accordion boxes. Each box has a unique title and RSS feed which shows the top 3 stories from the feed. There is then an option where you click on the news category heading which takes you to a new article page that shows all the stories for that news category.

You can see the code on the article titled "news"

The coder says when he keeps all code blocks active he sees nothing but "when I commented the code for other blocks and kept only one block active then it's working"

I think it is to do with Easy Social template override for these news pages. I have a feeling that a template change messed up some customisation or it wasnt done correctly by a previous coder.

Can you advise how to solve.

Your suggestion above seems to be a dead end. Though he did say "In my.cnf a parameter has to be changed but on cpanel its not providing the option to change it, max_allowed_packet=500M"

Hi Jason Well,

I'm not sure how this Jomsocial article is related with this issue, as template override is only replace the default page in specific EasySocial's page only.
However, as you suspect that there issue with EasySocial override file, I've try to rename the override file temporarily, seems it doesn't effect with the 'news' menu. I was suspect that there is issue with the content itself as I try to view another Joomla article
example: https://www.riskoracle.com/privacy

Seems to render the page correctly.

The only page that seems to be affected is the news link & page. What could be causing this?

Hi Jason,

I am really want to help you out however we cannot accommodate your request as it is beyond our support scope's policy as outlined in https://stackideas.com/support

What could be causing this?

It is probably caused by the code in the content (Joomla article 'news') Perhaps, can you consult this with the coder that create this code content?
