cannot upgrade to latest 1.4.10 - stuck at 20%

I have attempted to upgrade to the latest version using the API key, and the installation directory with the launcher. Both attempts stop at 20%: Initializing Site Files ...

there is no FTP access.

I can no longer manage my site as selecting the EasySocial component only brings me to the installation page.
Fixed.. i ensured files were owned by www-data on my installation.. it proceeded correctly now.
