Tag non-friend in comment if he posted comment before user

Hello.
1) User1 post story item (or other content)
2) User2 post comment for this item
3) User3 and User2 are not friends
4) User3 try to use @User2 (non friend) to ask User2 about something
Result: system say “No found”

Expected result: If User2 posted comment, so User3 can join conversation and tag User2.
It worked this way in Jomsocial, so members reports that it’s a bug

All users are regular registered users (not super users).

Currently, we do not have the plan for it at this point of time.

In order to achieve what you want, you can add the following PHP code into JoomlaFolder/components/com_easysocial/controllers/friends.php as shown in the screenshot https://take.ms/dEWl5 :


$options['everyone'] = true;

Actually, it is not a bug. This is the default behavior for EasySocial which do not allow users to tag non-friends since day 1 we build the Easysocial.

Perhaps it would be best if you can submit a feature request regarding this issues by creating a new ticket on the forums and set it to "Feature Request" here. We will prioritize this feature during the development process for the next major version of EasySocial if there are more people request on this.

Hello. I found some settings in backend few days ago.

It allow regular member to tag in public group any member he wants (non-friend, non-member of group).

But this user is still can’t to tag anyone in main stream.

Is it correct? Can it be improved?

Hello. Website users still ask me about tagging – they sure that there is some bug on site ? so they can't stop to ask again and again.
Users says that they can tag (almost) anyone (non-friend) at Facebook, VK.com and believe EasySocial should work the same way = allow to tag other commentators (not all members).
Can you please discuss this? ?‍♀️?
