Hello

I've developed a new website for this domain here http://77.104.131.197/~webdes63/index.php/blog and need to be able to migrate all the blog posts from the existing site.

Is this something that you can assist with, please?

Kind regards
Ann
Hi there,

You should be able to achieve them by referring to our documentations here https://stackideas.com/docs/easyblog/administrators/migrations/migrating-easyblog-to-different-site

Please give it a try and see how it goes.

Hi

Thanks for getting back - I've fallen down at the first step.

The user ID on the new site is different from the existing site and it can't be edited. ID 838 on new site and 898 on old site. Not sure how best to proceed.

Or is it not the ID? Other fields are Name and User name - is it these that should be the same?

Thanks
Ann

Hi there,

If that so, the best way to proceed is to edit your current blogs post and replace those author accordingly as you can see here http://take.ms/ujWa3. Please give it a try and see how it goes.

OK - So I've created the authors on the new website and I've read through the rest of the instructions and can export the SQL but this bit is causing a problem.

"Make sure that the EasyBlog on the origin site is having the same version of the new site. If it not, please do so."

I have an old version of EasyBlog installed on the old site 5.0.36

The new site has a newer version already installed 5.2.4 - I really didn't think it would be this difficult to migrate the posts to the new site, or thought maybe I'd get some support doing it. What is the best overcomeer come this - I don't want to upgrade on the old site as seems pointless given that new website is going live as soon as this is sorted and I don't want to remove the new version and install old version on the new site.

What do you suggest?

Hi there,

Currently, you need to make sure that your new site is on same version with old site actually. After you finish migrating them all, then you can update your Easyblog. That how it should be right now. May i know that you have installer for 5.0.x ? If not let us know and maybe you can provide us with all the access(Backend, FTP and database access) so that we can perform them for you.

Please advice.

Note:
Dont forget to do full backup on both of your site first.

Hi

This was taking far to long so in the end I've decided to manually load the old blog posts ... seems to be quicker. However, on some posts I'm unable to post content. I copy the text from the old site and paste into the new site however when I attempt to publish the post all content is removed from the post. It isn't happening on all of them - but I'm up to three now. Even when I try to manually copy type into the editor I'm unable to add any content. I've tried clearing cache, using a different browser but always the same problem.

Getting a little frustrated with EasyBlog ... it's anything but. Any ideas how I can overcome this. I really need to get these posts loaded into the new site.

Hi there,

May i know how exactly you included those contents? Are you using our built in composer or other editor? Maybe you can provide us with your backend access so that we can further check this on your end.

Please advice.

Hi there,

You can add the information needed by edit your first post in the Details section or you can just include your site's access once at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site rather than needing to keep adding them in your replies. Those are safe as those sections are accessible by us(stackideas staff) only. or maybe you can sent them on this email warith@stackideas.com

It would be best if you can provide us all those related things(blog links and all related information) so that we can further check them.

Please advice.

Hi

Have added superuser login details - the post in question is this one http://77.104.131.197/~webdes63/administrator/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=composer&tmpl=component&uid=42.127&Itemid=1117

And this is the content I'm trying to paste in. Just gets removed when I update.

Thanks
Ann

To a certain extent this is still true, but visitors are now spending a lot of time on 'about' pages and may even 'land' at other pages of your website like your 'blog' or 'contact' page especially if you are promoting your blog on social media.

While not neglecting the importance of your Home page it's important to focus on these other pages as landing pages.

Review how they may be perceived by a new visitor to your website:
What first impression do they create?
Is there a clear call to action?
Do they encourage visitors to move to other areas of the site?
Include the following to encourage them to move to other pages of your website:
Have a clear and prominent message that lets your visitors know exactly what you do as soon as they arrive at the page.
Include a contact email address and/or phone number. Consider how your visitors got the site. Is it likely to be from a mobile device? In which case have the phone number easily accessible for direct dial. In fact you should have your contact details on every page!
Have one clear call to action ... don't overwhelm with too many. If there are too many choices and buttons to click, you risk causing confusion and your visitors clicking nothing!
If you have a great offer or can give away some free information highlight it. Do you have some information you could give away via free download that could also give you the opportunity to collect data for your mailing list?
Include links to other pages of your website from within your individual blog posts to encourage readers to find out more about your business and services.
Cut out the jargon. Write for your readers and ultimately your prospective customers. Use language that they will understand and can relate to.
So following the advice above, if you are a small business and are thinking of developing a website for the first time, why not download our free checklist to make sure you know what questions to ask your web developer.

The above are a few simple guidelines, but above all else keep it simple. If you would like some help with developing a new small business website or improving an existing one, please do get in touch.

Hi there,

After further checks on this issues, it is becuase of 'blog' single quotations on your contents causing jHackGuard to striped it. I have disabled jHackGuard plugin on your site and seems to works as it should now. It would be best if you can check which input filters http://take.ms/P1xCm that prevents single quotations to be included on your contents.

Please give it a check and see how it goes.
