Hi there,

I'm currently testing my newly built community and discovered that the banned words from EasyDiscuss seem to be passing through into the EasySocial stream. Please refer to screenshot and outlined items in red.

[EDIT] Just tested with Komento and it seems to do exactly the same as EasyDiscuss. Bad words pass through into news feed.

I'm not sure if this is an issue with EasyDiscuss or EasySocial. I'm figuring EasySocial since there's no means of blocking words.

Please advise if there's a way of keeping bad words from showing up on the EasySocial news feed.

Regarding EasyDiscuss and Komento, a possible suggestion/solution might be to implement a similar bad word filtering/blocking process as EasyBlog.

Currently, EasyDiscuss and Komento post/publish even if bad words are included, replacing the word with ****.

EasyBlog on the other hand tells the user what blocked word is present and prevents the content from being published until the blocked word is removed, smart idea.

To me, EasyBlog seems to have a really solid preventative measure in place with the only exception being tags (no way to prevent tags containing blocked words).

That being said, I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to consider EasyBlog's blocked words functionality for EasyDiscuss and Komento? Maybe even EasySocial?

I'm in the process of launching an online community aimed at entrepreneurs and business owners, so more of a professional work related environment. I don't expect a lot of users to engage in vulgar/inappropriate subject matter, but for the few that may try, I would like a way of deterring them from posting such content. Is there any way of having a means of adding a list of bad words to block on EasySocial?

Simplified outline of bad word blocking suggestion

- If bad word present, user can't publish and is given notification of the blocked word that's present (Currently EasyBlog)
- Block words on EasySocial - Same process as EasyBlog
- Block words on EasyDiscuss - Same process as EasyBlog
- Block words on Komento - Same process as EasyBlog
- Scan Title, Alias, Content and Tags for blocked words
- - - Currently it seems like tagging can contain bad words even though a blocked list is present (EasyBlog and EasyDiscuss). I think bad word filtering/blocking should include tags, or perhaps a method in the back-end to add a list of black-listed tags.

I hope this all makes sense, I'll try and clarify if needed.

Thank you for your time.

Regards,
Chris
Hi there,

EasyDiscuss and Komento already have their own badword filtering. Checkout these settings:

EasyDiscuss > Settings > Anti Spam > General > Words.
Komento > Settings > Anti Spam > General > Censored Words.

However, currently we do no have badword filtering in EasySocial core.

Perhaps, you can submit a future enhancement for these components to implement a similar bad word filtering/blocking process as EasyBlog and as per your explanation.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Thanks.

Hi Yasser,

Thank you very much for the quick reply.

I guess I should have just stuck with the initial problem rather than providing suggestions, I'm sorry if I caused any confusion in my last post.

The problem I'm faced with is that even though EasyDiscuss and Komento have bad word filters and are blocked on those components, the blocked words from respective components do not remain blocked when posted on the EasyDiscuss news feed. Posting to EasySocial news feed is done automatically via integration between the components.

I would figure that since there is a universal integration between all of these components, that filtered words would remain blocked all across the integrated components, specifically EasySocial. In other words, even though EasySocial doesn't have a built-in word filter/blocker, it should still maintain the filtered/blocked words from EasyDiscuss and Komento since the contents are being blocked and replaced with ****.

Simply put, if EasyDiscuss and Komento are replacing words with **** then anything that is passed into EasySocial news feed should show **** instead of the word that is supposed to be blocked. I hope this makes sense.

Please refer to the attached picture in my previous post for visual reference of what I'm trying to explain.

I hope this clears things up and hopefully there's a possible solution to this.

Thank you for your time and any further support you can provide on this.

Regards,
Chris

Hi there,

I do not get your issue here.

Regarding,
> if EasyDiscuss and Komento are replacing words with **** then anything that is passed into EasySocial news feed should show **** instead

Based on your attached screenshot, I believe the contents are already censored ***. Do you mean the discussion title still showing even tho it was censored in EasyDiscuss?

Please advise.

That's correct, for testing purposes, the following words below

Dooo
Fugg
Heck

were the filtered words that should have been blocked, but when either posted in EasyDiscuss or Komento and in turn is posted on EasySocial newsfeed, it does not block out the words as shown in the attachment, outlined in red.

I hope that helps.

Chris

Hi there,

I've checked this issue on my instance, and it seems like it is a bug. I've logged this issue to our developer to fix it. Thanks for reporting this issue.

Cheers.
