Hello Stackideas team,

i would to thank you for the greaaaat job you do and did recently with ES 1.4 stable release, its amazing how your solutions (and ours!) are developping. All that with a great support too. I think (and others maybe) that we will continue using yours products for years and years

Can you tell us please about the next updates ? is the easydiscuss will be revamped as ES and EB ? Its a great tools for discussions, smarter then classic forums but need some UI remake i think !

thanks !

Hi guys,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply. We already start working on easydiscuss 4.0 but right now we mainly focus on support priority to help people that are having issue with easysocial 1.4 and easyblog 5. We will always keep our roadmap updated through blog and newsletter. Thank you for the support.

Great news Fazwan !
please do not hesitate to publish the roadmap, we can help and propose features !

what about the easysocial app wich integrate the grouos discussions into the ED extension ?
i think its logical to get discussions in one place, people will have choice to post them into their prefered groups or in the general ED page !

Hey Jan,

We're still considering the possibility of linking discussions on EasyDiscuss to groups in EasySocial

That would be great if it happens, I've been setting up my site so each group has a ED discussion linking the two together would be perfect

There is no ETA on this yet and I would try to not give any dates to avoid getting "quoted" anywhere on the forums By the way, when you guys are looking into linking groups with EasyDiscuss, what sort of linkage are you looking at? Linking by categories?

we can imagine an option in groups to choose in wich ED category this discussion can be posted, then we can have two scenarios :
> Each group have a special ED category
> Many groups can post in one category
in this case users will not have an option to choose category, all is configured in the groups setting.

another way, link simply the ED categories so users can have choices between categories.

in the two cases, i think that the stream post feature MUST be disabled, why ? users will continue posting discussions directly in the stream and dont use the discussions app.

I don't really like the idea of linking groups with a category because then you have a lot of other complications. For instance, in the category of EasyDiscuss, it actually has privacy options but group has it's own set of privacy. It's going to be extremely complicated and confusing.

Anyone else has any feedback on how it should work for you?

When I posted this morning that I though linking the ES Group with a ED Category was a great idea, I was thinking of something quite basic as I am aware that ES and ED are two different products and while you want them to work together not every one will want to buy a ED-ES combination, so having the EasyDiscuss Application

http://stackideas.com/apps/item/6-easydiscuss

Is a great idea or at least it would be if it worked as I have possibly the same problem that was reported here

http://stackideas.com/forums/easy-discuss-app

Unfortunately as it was reported as a EasyBlog problem and I don't have EasyBlog so am unable to read more than the first post, but based on the picture its the same problem.

Anyway back to this topic, I'd been thinking more along the links of something similiar to the Profile Types where you can select a group, but in this case when you set up a group you would have the option to link to a ED Category and when you did two things would happen a new ED discussion started in the group would default to the ED Category selected when the group was setup (if you didn't select a ED Category when setting up the group then you can post the discussion anywhere on ED) and secondly in the group if you have "linked" to a ED Category then in the side menu where the Recent Files, etc appear you would have Recent Discussions as well that listed a set number of the most recent posts from the ED Category (with a view more button underneath).

Hope that makes sense

I think we need more synchronisation with EasyBlog and EasySocial. We talked about it once Mark. Having answers in EasyDiscuss going to comments on the Stream item of the created thread would be amazing. I think this would be great if it would only work with the posted text. Let the users decide by themselves where they want to participate the discussion.

Smileys is a big topic in my community. There was an update of smileys with EasySocial 1.4 but it is no real improvement at all. I need to add my own smileys with my own code. Like making x.gif when someone writes ":x". Something like a bad word filter for smileys.

Additionally I understand the missing of the pagination due to having urls to the same topic. But it does not work without pagination as you can see in your own forum with the EasySocial app threads...

Postcounter is missing, okay, but with having all necessary components it should be easy to display the EasySocial userpoints below the avatar.

Very important in my opinion is a theme that is more like a classic forum style to start from there instead of having to build an own theme nearly from scratch.

There are email notifications for new answers in a thread you have posted in. But why there are no EasySocial notifications for this? We need this.

Probably I will find more things if I think about it.

IMPORTANT: Disregarding the component we are talking about please take more care about hard coded translations and never forget that many people live in countries where no am/pm exists. This has not taken care of many times in the past.

There more components you sell the more important it gets for us to be able to make it look professional for not having the same sites all over the internet with just different domains.

HI, Mark the main reason i would want linkage to ED is to create categories, perhaps that's possible now and i am just missing the setting? I would like the user to be able to choose an appropriate category to post in, much in the way Linked used to allow with Promotions and Jobs categories.

It would be great to have this feature in the main dashboard stream also. With the ED app installed when you click on the discussion button you are allowed to choose which ED categories to post in. I would like to be able to assign stream items to categories also.

Hi Bright,

Thanks for the heads up on this one. By the way, with the latest ED app for EasySocial, user can already create discussion and select category in dashboard story form Please see http://screencast.com/t/a6LWZkdiNWMy

I would like to be able to assign stream items to categories also.

Do you mean the stream item created from ED or the overall streams items from your EasySocial?

Hi Bright,

Thanks for the heads up on this. Currently stream items is already categorised by the apps E.g. if you click on the photo filter from your dashboard page, the streams related to photos will be displayed

Hey n00bster,

Your idea is great but this is what I feared the most, over-engineering stuffs. We did a lot of mistakes in EasyBlog 5 and one of the biggest mistake was to over-engineer the settings.

Listening to what customers want is great, especially when they tell us the problems that they faced. However, getting the feedback about EasyBlog 5, is one of the worst release that I have ever seen.

For instance, moving the settings from the themes to the menu was one of the most requested features in EasyBlog. We added this, and it backfired us because most users (90%) of the customers doesn't want to see these settings. It just over-complicates stuff. Not to mention the composer itself, with all the bells and whistles of the image properties.

Nevertheless, we'll definitely need to filter the feature requests submitted and see if these features actually makes sense before adding them.

This is where we made a mistake We satisfied 5% of our user base but made the other 95% unhappy. Fortunately you are within the 5%, and we are re-looking at EasyBlog 5.1 to get the balance of 95% happy again

agree with Mark, i am in the 95% and i prefer the old EB 3.9 wich we are using until today, in EB there is a ton of feature and not all "basic" members caonnt use it easily.

hope 5.1 will have less features and be more simple to use.
