Hi Stackideas Team,

I have created custom fields for registration, with custom values, and also created various profile types.

I cannot find the language files I should modify in the language folder to have these translated in other languages.

Could you kindly help?

Best

Raph
Hi Raph,

What you can do is, you need to create a language constant containing your description and put it in the language file. Here is my screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/98rQ5nBeB2Eo . Example of language constant: COM_EASYSOCIAL_FIELDS_PROFILE_DEFAULT_DESIRED_USERNAME="Username" and put it in the language file: .../language/en-GB/en-GB.com_easysocial.ini

If you have anymore question, please do not hesitate to ask us.
Hope this help.

Hello Raph,

It depends on what language you are using. For instance, to translate English language, you will need to edit the file /language/en-GB/en-GB.com_easysocial . Alternatively you can utilize the language override feature in Joomla, http://stackideas.com/blog/how-to-override-joomla-language-strings

Dear Mark,

Let's say I would like to translate in German my set up: a Homer man profile and a Marge woman profile.

In the /language/en-GB/en-GB.com_easysocial I do not find the custom value for my custom profiles, i.e. i do not find "homer man" string.

If I would find these values in the /en-GB.com_easysocial file I would create a /language/de-DE/de-DE.com_easysocial file with the translation: Homer mann and Marge Fräulein.

Where to find these Homer man and Marge woman strings for it to be translated? Coud not find an Easysocial profile type language ini file.. nor for the custom fields registration values.. I looked into registration ini files...users ini files..

Are these values only in the database? how to override through a language ini file? Where to find their language constant ?

Thanking you

Hi Raph,

I am not sure which language string you're referring to? Can you please provide us with any screenshot so that we can understand this better.

Please advise.

Hi Mo,

I have various profile types, all in english.

I want to translate these profiles in other languages.

I have custom fields in each profile types, with custom values (ex:description in english)

I want to translate these descriptions.

Could you kindly explain how to proceed. I am at the beginning of the learning curve. Thanks.
