Is it possible to get notifications from kunena in the notifications bar the same way you would as if someone wrote on your timeline? For example, If I posted in Kunena and someone replied to that post I would get a notification of that reply.
Hello Edward,

Unfortunately there's no way to achieve this unless there's a "trigger" in Kunena plugin.

Ok Thanks Mark.

What would be needed as a trigger?

Good to know, this is something the Kunena team needs to get on some day. How hard is creating triggers for a plugin? The reason I ask is because if it's not too hard, I suppose it might be something I could convince them into adding some day.

Hello,

If Kunena has a trigger when a reply is made on the forums, we could actually update the plugin and EasySocial so that it stores a new notification.

According to the change log "Allow kunena plugin to generate notifications when user replies in a thread". Was an alternative method figured out? Just curious about the story of how this was accomplished. I am very pleased with the new version of EasySocial once again.

Yes, we managed to figure out how to actually achieve this. In the future, we'll add in more notifications for other Kunena related items!

Was there any update for this? I'd like it if a user replies to a thread it sends them a notification if they are subscribed, rather than sending them an email from Kunena. That way I can buy the web pushnotify and have people notified that way.

Hello Kurt,

We do have Kunena App for Easysocial. And yes, it does support notification when user replies in Kunena. You can give it a try by installing this app: https://stackideas.com/apps/item/69-kunena and this plugin: https://stackideas.com/apps/item/1-kunena . Hope this helps.

I have those apps, but when someone replies to a post, it just shows up in stream. I am talking about a notification that shows up in the same place as when someone comments on a stream item.

Hello Kurt,

Based on the codes in that app, it should create a notification. Can you create a new forum post with your site access (backend & FTP) so that we can check this for you?

I got it working, had to hit "discover" on the alerts section. Unfortunately it still sends an email to the user when a reply is posted. If I disable it in the Kunena CP it stops sending emails and alerts.
I also tried enabling emails in kunena, and disabling it in the alert, but it still sends an email. When you have emails enabled on the alert, it will actually send 2 emails.
Basically the goal is to only send a notification, so we can buy the push notify app and have it handle everything.

Hello Kurt,

Glad to hear that it is working. May I assume your issue has resolved? Or do you have any other queries?

That issue is resolved, but is there a way to get alerts without emails? If I disable emails in the Kunena CP it disables alerts too.

Hello Kurt,

I am sorry but what did you mean with Kunena CP?

but is there a way to get alerts without emails?
- Do you mean you want to get Easysocial alerts without Kunena emails?

If I disable emails in the Kunena CP it disables alerts too.
- May I know how you disable emails in Kunena?

Nik,

I mean in the Kunena Control panel. I want easy social alerts, without Kunena emails, yes.

This is the option that I am talking about, if it is not set to "Email Every Update" You will not get any alerts or emails.

Hello Kurt,

The way our plugin works is Easysocial will get those subscribers that needs to be notified from Kunena and if Kunena didn't returns anything, we just skip the alert since there are no one to be notified. I am not really familiar with Kunena codes and I can't do much about this. You might want to consult Kunena developers if they have better idea on how to solve this.
