We had setup the cron jobs in May as scheduled tasks. Currently they are running and reporting "success's" (200) on the desired schedules. The problem is that none of the emails from either component (discuss/social) are being sent, since Aug 17 (social) and Aug 28th (discuss). The system was left alone, we are maintaining the host service. So prior to these dates the emails were being sent successfully. Any ideas, I have tried everything I could think of

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

It seems like your Joomla mail setting is not set correctly, you can check my attached screenshot below.

When you click `test send email` button, it will test with your current mail setting and see is it set it correctly, but the result come out is "Test mail could not be sent.", mean you have to consult with your webhosting provider to get the correct mail setting info and configure in your Joomla mail setting.

Hello thank you for your response!

Unfortunately the test mail function is faulty (We have learned to not trust it). The error you are seeing is associated with the php mailer, though as you can see we are using a local SMTP. To test the email function-ability we send a private message to a admin via components->message->send private message on the site and confirm if it is sent, this confirms the settings are working. Which I just confirmed is working to both internal and external emails. In fact the primary suggested fix for that error is to spin up a smtp or sendmail service.

Also we are getting other emails through the system just not the ones from easy discuss and social, they are special somehow.

Thank you for your assistance,
Riley

Hey there,

Yes, I already make sure your mail setting is setup correctly when I test register on your site Joomla default registration form.

Can you provide us with some screenshot regarding your cronjob configuration setting from your server?

Also may i know did you consider renew your Easysocial license so that you can able to update to latest version because we have fixed a lot of bugs between 1.4.5 - 1.4.12 version.

I am in talks with the higher ups for approval on renewing.

Attached is some screen shots of the scheduled tasks. I have attached the code behind the scheduled jobs to cover the bases.

If you go to the easysocial or easydiscuss components ->email activities you will see the pending status reported.

Hey there,

I've help you update Easysocial cron.php file in your site., you can refer on my attached screenshot.

By the way, why don't you configure the cronjob into your server?

To be honestly, I have no ideas why your Windows task scheduler is not working.

But I already help you install XTCronjob extension in your site and configure Easydiscuss/Easysocial cronjob, it should work fine now, can you check is it send out the email now?

Might be a bad response but we thought of cron job as the linux version of windows task scheduler and wanted to use the built in tools. If I had known about that sweet cron job extension in joomla that you put in that would have saved alot of head ache when we set up the server.

Many thanks for your assistance. The emails are moving as intended now, your fix worked!

Cheers,
Riley
