Hi,

I have to issues on my website http://www.feuerwehr-wachtberg.de with EasyBlog 5.2.1:

1. I have several Menus with Grid view to show selected categories of my articles. When I choose the menu item the grid view will be shown as aspected. When I choose one single article (bspw. from the Menu item "Aktuelles"), the URL will be "/einsaetze/" and the "Einsätze"-Menu is active.

Where can I define, that the URL for the single artcile is the selected Menu item ("/aktuelles/" for "Aktuelles")? The only way I found is in the SEO settings. But I think I have the right setting on this page.

2. I want to share single articles on our Facebook page. The Auto-Post feature is activated and set to an facebook testpage. Actually I don't have any category which uses the autopost feature.

In the article list there is the Facebook-Share button (near the Mail-Button). The dialog says, that the article is shared, but the article will not been showed up on the facebook page - or on my private facebook profile.

Where can I set up where EasyBlog should post the single article I want to share?

Thanks for your advice in these issues.

Best regards
Michael

I have a little bit lost here, perhaps you can provide us what blog permalink format you would like to show?
For example : http://site.com/blogAlias/blogTitle

It seems like you provided that user account doesn't have superadmin privileges so I was unable to view those setting from your site backend Easyblog page, you can refer on my attached screenshot below.

May i know do you have setup your Facebook app yet? If yes, can you invite my Facebook user account arlex.wong to be your app administrator roles? So i can able to view your current app configuration setting page. for example : http://take.ms/jwEyL

Here an example:
When I open this article:
https://www.feuerwehr-wachtberg.de/einsaetze/978-wir-w%C3%BCnschen-euch-frohe-ostern.html
the URL show sitename/einsaetze/article and not sitename/aktuelles/article .
And the menu "Einsätze" is active - not "Aktuelles".

I changed the user to Super User and added you to the Facebook App which is referred in the EasyBlog System.

It seems like you only create multiple Grid menu item on your site which system unable to determine which menu should be use.
What my suggestion is create a hidden menu for 'Easyblog - frontpage layout' on your site, all the existing blog post will referring to this menu alias.

It seems like most of your existing categories doesn't enable allowing autopost, this is why it doesn't get autopost to your Facebook page, can you check my attached screenshot below, it should autopost to your Facebook test page now once i enabled allowing autopost setting from this category Einsätze 2018

First of all: I updated EasyBlog to the latest version 5.2.3

It seems like you only create multiple Grid menu item on your site which system unable to determine which menu should be use.
What my suggestion is create a hidden menu for 'Easyblog - frontpage layout' on your site, all the existing blog post will referring to this menu alias.

Ok ... So I should create a new menu e.g. "Hidden-Menu". In this is one Menu-Item with the Easyblog Frontpage layout? And all existing Grid-Menu-Entries from the Main Menu are Menu links?

How can I then define, that I only want to show one category when I choose one menu item?

For example: I choose "Einsätze -> Einsätze 2018" in the menu. Then I only want to see the articles from the category "Einsätze 2018". When I choose "Aktuelles" I want to see articles from the categories "Aktuelles, Facebook".

With "menu link" I can only define in the linked menu item, what will be shown.

I think there is a problem in the SEO behavior of EasyBlog: I experimented a little bit with the SEO settings in the EasyBlog settings. I tried several options of the SEF-URL-Format. The changes are shown on the website, but the url for "/menu/" still shows "/einsaetze/".

Then I changed the routing setting of Settings -> SEO -> Advanced from "Standard" to a specific menu ID. For test I used the menu ID of "Aktuelles". "Use Routing From" still is on "Category-Menu". And now: All articles are routed to "/aktuelles/" and only "/aktuelles/" is shown on the URL. I changed it back to "Standard" and "/einsaetze/" was shown again in the URL.

The menu ID for "Einsätze" (which is responsible for the "/einsaetze/" on the URL) has the lowest ID of all of my Grid view menu items. For me it seems that the SEO function took the first ID and route the URL to this menu item. I expect, that the SEO function looks in which menu the article is and routes to the menu item in which the article is. That's what I expect from the SEF-URL-Format "http://yoursite.com/menu/title".

I have no idea where I can change the settings of the routing behavior "Category menu". I changed this setting with no effect.

Maybe you can check if there isn't a bug in the SEO function.

It seems like most of your existing categories doesn't enable allowing autopost, this is why it doesn't get autopost to your Facebook page, can you check my attached screenshot below, it should autopost to your Facebook test page now once i enabled allowing autopost setting from this category Einsätze 2018

As I mentioned in my first post no category was allowed to autopost in Facebook. Sometimes I have a fast post on Facebook and I want to add it later on my website. With the autopost feature it would be posted once again on Facebook. So I will deceide for each post, If I want to share it on Facebook or not. The Facebook share Button on the articles overview page suggested to me, that I can share it when I hit the button. All the dialogs looks like that the article is shared - and there is no hint that the autopost feature must be activated for the category.

What I now understand is: I have to activate the autopost in the categories I want to share articles to Facebook. In the autopost settings I deactivate the "autopost on new articles" and "autopost on updates". Then I can use the Share-Button in the articles overview to share specific articles on Facebook. Correct?

Otherwise: Is it possible to create a new category "Facebook share", activate the "autopost on new articles" function, activate the autopost function for this category and when I add the category as second category to an article it will be automatically shared to Facebook. Is this possible?

btw: The share on my Facebook-Testsite worked. But not the article is shared on the Facebook Page, the link to the main website was shared. I published the Facebook-Testsite, so you can check it: https://www.facebook.com/TestFFWAC/
My setting still is, that the full main content of the article should be shared on Facebook. On my other tests only parts of the Headline are posted and no pictures (e.g. the post cover). Can you have a look on the Facebook share function what is going wrong there?

Thank you.

Best regards
Michael

I think i misunderstand your first issue in earlier, perhaps you can take a look of my following explanation and see whether i understand correctly or not :

1. When the user access this menu page https://www.feuerwehr-wachtberg.de/aktuelles.html , you would like those single article post permalink to be https://www.feuerwehr-wachtberg.de/aktuelles/postTitle ?

2. When the user access this menu page https://www.feuerwehr-wachtberg.de/einsaetze/einsaetze2018.html , you would like those single article post permalink to be https://www.feuerwehr-wachtberg.de/einsaetze/postTitle ?

Regarding with your autopost issue :
What I now understand is: I have to activate the autopost in the categories I want to share articles to Facebook. In the autopost settings I deactivate the "autopost on new articles" and "autopost on updates". Then I can use the Share-Button in the articles overview to share specific articles on Facebook. Correct?

Yes, that is correct, if you disabled these "autopost on new articles" and "autopost on updates" setting, it will not autopost to your Facebook page when someone published the post, unless you manually click the share button from the blog listing page.

Otherwise: Is it possible to create a new category "Facebook share", activate the "autopost on new articles" function, activate the autopost function for this category and when I add the category as second category to an article it will be automatically shared to Facebook. Is this possible?

Hm, I am not quite understand what you mean second category? Are you mean child category?
For example :
- CategoryA (Parent category)
|_ CategoryB (child category)

btw: The share on my Facebook-Testsite worked.

Do you mean when you trying to click the Facebook share button from your article page, then it didn't show the correct blog content during share? You can refer on my screenshot here : http://take.ms/GXfoS

I am sorry that if i understand wrongly with your explanation again.

OK - I think that is the solution. So I activated the autopost feature for my "Facebook" category and after klick on the FB-Share-Button in the article overview the article will be shared on Facebook.

Otherwise: Is it possible to create a new category "Facebook share", activate the "autopost on new articles" function, activate the autopost function for this category and when I add the category as second category to an article it will be automatically shared to Facebook. Is this possible?

No - It is possible to assign more than one category to one article. My idea is, I add the "normal" primary category (e.g. "Facebook" ) and add another category (e.g. "Facebook share " ) to one article. In the autopost settings the option "autopost on new articles" is activated. In the category "Facebook share " the autopost feature is activated. In the category "Facebook" the autopost feature is deactivated.

When I assign the "Facebook share" category the article (additional to category "Facebook" ) will be autoposted to Facebook. When I only assign the category "Facebook" the article will not be autoposted. In the Frontend I only display the articles I have assigned to category "Facebook".

No - I mean the Facebook-Share Button in the Backend in the article overview (the button we are taking about in the autopost discussion and is displayed in your picture.

Therefore the autopost (or manually autopost) will post a link to the main site (http://www.feuerwehr-wachtberg.de) - not to the article I have choosen in the article overview. AND: In case of the settings I will expect, that the content of the article will be posted on the Facebook site - not only a link to the EasyBlog-article.

The attached pictures show what happens - pic 1 to 4 is the (auto)post action on the Backend and what is transferred to the FB page. pic 5 and 6 is the content on the website frontend (post cover in the grid view and text without post cover in the entry view).

No problem with a wrong understanding. Maybe I am to complicated in my explanations

OK - I think about it and make some tries with this idea.

EDIT: Maybe you can mark this as a feature request. I have looked deep in the code of the routing functions and it is possibile to get the information which category is used in which Joomla menu and therefore it should be possible to highlight the right menu where the article / post entry is be choosen from.

Since this thread have different issue all together, i would suggest you can submit this feature request on our forum here https://stackideas.com/forums/easyblog/feature-requests so we will see if there a lot of user request this, we will definitely consider this.

Yes, this way will work. But you have to manually click Facebook share button from backend blog listing page.

I provide you FTP credentials in the hidden part of this post.

It seems like that is bug if the site using https, i already applied some fix into your site /administrator/components/com_easyblog/includes/connector/connector.php , it should work fine now, you can take a look of my attached screenshot below.
