Hi,

I'm using easysocial in combination with Geommunity3.

My problem now is that it's not working the way I need it.

When I load up pictures with gps meta data they are shown on the wrong places (but the meta data are correct!).

Is there any way to fix this? I also contacted the guys from Geommunity3 and they just say that they only read the database information which easy social is providing.

Hope you can help me out with this. Thanks!

Max

Hello Mark,

So I have installed "EasySocial" for Joomla and running it locally on my PC. I have also installed the "Geommunity3" app you offer on your site.

- Joomla > Components > Pictures > General > Import EXIF data > Yes

- Posting pictures in my "Newsstream" > see picture 1

- Click on picture to get a preview > see picture 2 > The address on the right (marked red) is wrong and is not shown correctly on the map on roll over

- On a different page of my site I'm using the Geommunity3 module which is showing a map with markers related to my pictures in the posts > see picture 3 > also here the position is wrong!

So the everything is nearly working and the pictures are show but the problem is that the location is wrong and the GPS information of the picture must be misinterpreted while uploading or importing. I also checked the EXIF/GPS information of the pictures and they are correct which means that my camera is working correctly.

I really need the right location showing on a map for my project so it would be very helpful to find a solution.

Thanks in advance
Max

Hello Max,

Hm, does the location show up correctly when you are viewing the photo in EasySocial's popup? Can you send me the photo that you have uploaded under the form here.

Hello Mark,

Thanks for the quick reply. The location is also wrong when viewing in a popup.

I attached the pictures to this post:

- picture_original.JPG > original picture with the GPS data from my iPhone

- picture_mac_preview.png > picture shown on my mac with preview and the correct location where the picture was originally shot

- picture_easysocial.png > picture shown on EasySocial with preview and the wrong location

Hi,

Did you found a solution yet?

Could it maybe be important which format the database has? My database is in "utf8mb4_general_ci".

Just an idea but I need to go on with my project/site.

Thanks and best regards
Max

Hello Max,

I am really sorry about the delays, I was having some issues with the exif library on my Mac. I am still checking on this and will get back to you once I find the issues.

Hello Max,

Can you download the attached file and upload it into /administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/exif/adapters/ and overwrite the exif.php file. See if this works correctly for you? This is how it loads up on my end now, http://screencast.com/t/vovj8BehsKO7

Hi Mark,

Awesome! It's working now. That's what I needed. Great!
I tried some more other pictures and now the location is correct every time.
Was it a special problem with my pix or a small bug in EasySocial? Do I have to replace the .php every time now or will it be fixed with the next Update?

Thanks for the fast support!

Max

Hello Max,

No problem! It's actually the way the degrees are being calculated into "Google friendly" latitude and longitude and it's a bug within our exif library but this will be fixed in the next release of EasySocial
