Hi,

I found a topic that referred to using language overrides, and I have done that to change "What's on your mind?" to "Title of post", but more fundamentally the purpose of this board is not as technical support but discussion forum. As such, referring to all posts as "Questions" is not appropriate. Is this something that can be altered?

Thanks,

John Casker
Hey John,

You can override this language constant translation from Joomla backend, you can refer on this documentation.

https://stackideas.com/docs/easydiscuss/administrators/configuration/creating-language-string-override

COM_EASYDISCUSS_POST_TITLE_EXAMPLE="What is on your mind?"

Hope this will help.

Sorry, that's the part that I found already, I wasn't very clear and I apologize. What I am left with is the use of the term "Question" for new posts throughout the site. Is there no way to change that? People aren't asking questions to be answered, at least not in such a clear-cut fashion. It's a discussion board.

Hey John,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Not entirely sure which particular section are you referring to here but the beauty of EasyDiscuss or all of our extensions that rides on top of Joomla is that it uses strings from a language file.

What you could do is to edit the file /language/en-GB/en-GB.com_easydiscuss.ini and search for any word of "question" and replace them accordingly

Sorry for not creating a new post but my issue is identical. The thing is EasyDiscuss is marketed as a forum and the problem I am having is I am trying to use it as a forum but everything about it screams support desk. Those of us that are using it as a forum are put off with some of the language such as Johns and mine being that on a forum when someone makes a post they are not asking a question.

I followed the examples here and made my changes but either I am not targeting the right thing or something because it is not working. Yes, I cleared my cache for the site and the browser and no joy. It would make more sense to have the language overrides built into the component. Since the Joomla method is not making things easy since we still have to open the language file to identify the constant. Would be far easier if we could just manage all of these from within the component, then maybe it might work to boot!

Hey Kevin,

Perhaps you can start a new thread on our forum and share with us as what you tried to modify which doesn't show any respected result on your site? So we can assist you on this.
