I see a thread here http://stackideas.com/forums/importing-from-wordpress-need-posts,-pages,-comments-and-users

but unable to see what's happening (what's not working, what is working, type of manual work, etc.). That doesn't make it easier for us to make a decision.

Can anyone pass along information in that thread and share?
Hello Peter,

Currently EasyBlog does not support migrating of Wordpress pages. It only supports migrating normal blog posts over

Hi Mark

Please share key points from that topic.

You already touched on blog posts/pages. It seems Justin has a big community and he also mentioned comments and users so would like to know how those are handled.

Hello Peter,

Hm, what he actually mentioned is that he was migrating the pages to normal joomla articles and comments to compojoom comments. Then, migrated the comments from compojoom comments to Komento and after that migrate the articles from Joomla articles back to EasyBlog.

Hi Mark

That sounds complicated. Do you know of any wordpress sites that have successfully migrated (posts, users, comments) over to EB?

I've been searching for the cleanest path but most articles about migrations seem to go the other way (Joomla to WP).

If you are purely migrating WP blog posts over to EasyBlog, just use the built-in blog migrator tool in EasyBlog The success rate should almost be up to 95% unless the xml file that is exported from Wordpress is corrupted

Well that's the problem. It sounds like EB only include wordpress posts.

Still trying to find the best method to not only get posts over to EB but also users and comments.

Was hoping someone may know of alternate solutions and would share it here.

Hello Peter,

If there's a method for you to import everything into Joomla, EasyBlog can take it from there because it is able to migrate articles from Joomla into EasyBlog.

Still trying to understand how this will work:

wordpress url is http://www.example.com/how-to-migrate-from-wordpress

joomla url is http://www.example.com/blog/312-how-to-migrate-from-wordpress

Does EB strip the blog and also the number so that it will match wordpress URL?

Hello Peter,

Well, there's a few ways around this. One of the method is to create your front page menu item as the blog. This way you can achieve similar urls
