HI,

I got an issue when I intend to send a blog post with Windows Live Writer as you can see on my print screen
Few days ago it was working, since I just update Joomla

Is this setting correct in Select Blog Type for line remote posting web address for your blog

https://www.website.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=xmlrpc&tmpl=component

Any help will be nice
Thanks in advance for your answer

Hello Greg,

Can you also provide us with the FTP access as we need to troubleshoot the files on the site to determine the issue.

Hello Greg,

The login / password to your site does not seem to be working. Can you edit the post and provide the correct password for the site?

After testing this for hours, it looks like the problem is there are some php errors generated by the server and I suspect that the reason is because someone has actually turned on error reporting on your Joomla site. Those errors are breaking the XMLRPC service.

I have disabled the error reporting at the back end, and it works fine now. Can you give this a try again?

Hello Greg,

Hm, strange, I just tried this with WLW and I do not hit any errors. Are you getting these errors when you are publishing or when you are logging in?

Hello Greg,

Based on your screen shot, it looks like you are trying to setup WLW and not publishing a post. When publishing a post, you need to hit the button publish to publish the post.

By the way, can you choose Metaweblog API and see if the problem still persists?

Okay, I think there is something else going on here. It could be related to your SSL certificate as it is somehow not being recognized by Windows Live Writer.

When I am using a proxy as a middleware (to detect what went wrong with the publishing), I had to use a custom SSL verification and that works fine, https://take.ms/7k13b. The moment I turn off that proxy and it falls back to Windows Live Writer, it fails to connect.

You can view my video here, https://take.ms/r0On5

Could you allow access to the site with http:// so that I can run more tests?

Yep, I have just tested this using Windows Live Writer on http and it does work perfectly fine. I think the problem is Windows Live Writer is not recognizing the SSL certificate that you are using for the site somehow.

Can you try it again with just http?

By the way, if you need https, then I would suggest that you use this http://openlivewriter.org/ instead.

It looks like Windows Live Writer is no longer supported by Microsoft any longer.

Thanks for getting back to me Greg. I think the problem is because it was only a coincident that you updated Joomla. From the looks of it, WLW is not recognizing your site's SSL certificate which causes it to throw errors.

Perhaps the certificate somehow was updated because if my memory serves me correctly, certificates generated from Lets encrypt gets renewed every 3 months.

Anyway, yeah, you should stick with OLW since WLW is no longer supported by Microsoft and users will not be able to install it on Windows 10 anymore too. I managed to install it by hacking windows :\

You are most welcome Greg and I am glad that your issue is resolved now. Anyway, as mentioned in my ticket, this is certainly not an issue with EasyBlog and I hope you understand that we are not forcing you to renew. We need to spend time to troubleshoot issues and your subscription is helping to keep this operation sustainable
