I've been playing with and getting used to EasySocial the past week. From what I see so far it's fairly nifty
There are one or two "bugs" that I've come across and here's one that I'd dearly appreciated receiving a solution to.

I've tested a few browsers and platforms but Windows Internet Explorer 11 version 11.0.1024.16590 update versions 11.0.25 and EasySocial have an issue. It won't allow writing a message to the stream in certain conditions as shown in images.
I trust you'll easily replicate this issue yourselves?
Looking forward to hearing from you,

Cheers!
Hi,

I think there are some misunderstanding here. As a clarification I never mentioned that I am not able to replicate the issue on your site with the provided steps above. I only mention that I am not able to reproduce this issue in my localhost instance in my pc. Hope this can be clearer.

Back to the original issue, I've applied some fix inside your /media/com_easysocial/scripts//story.js and change your environment mode to "development" since this fix no applicable in simplify script yet. Here is my test result on your site after the fix, http://screencast.com/t/uuQPkRdSo8 . I've also checked with Arlex and everything is showing correctly from his end.

Can you verify this for me and confirm that everything is okay from your side?

Hi Guy,

I just tried to view both your site and our demo site using the same version of your internet explorer and it seems like everything is showing up correctly as you can see from my screenshot here, http://screencast.com/t/nOxYWgLlx .

I've also tested this in internet explorer 10 and microsoft edge browser for windows 10 and everything is displaying correctly. Not really sure how can I reproduce this issue from my end.

Hi Ezul, may I suggest you click through the News feed links on the left of your screen dump > Me & Friends > Everyone > Following > and the rest. You'll then see the issue.

Cheers!

Hey there,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

At this first time I can reproduce this issue in my IE 11 browser but after I switch to development mode in Easysocial then try refresh again, everything is work.

Then I switch back to `Production` mode, it seems work fine too, perhaps you can clear all of your history and browser cache from your IE11 and see how it goes?

This is my video : http://screencast.com/t/Ysh6uTWyf9

Hi Arlex, I'm pretty used to clearing the cache and history but then again I'm only human I'll of course treble check but it still does not work all the time when going through the menu on the left.

Now as I understand you have reproduce the fault.
You did a little trickery on my server by switching to and fro the development mode, cleared the Windows 11 cache and history and that worked for you?

It still does not work for me, but as I said I'll treble check to make sure.

Did you twiddle with the development settings on your demo server as I'm still getting the same fault there as I do with a third server running EasySocial - Please see the screen dump and visit the link yourself. Will JA need to twiddle too with developer settings to get it working for said browser?

I'm confused In the meantime I'll go the extra mile and check again, again and again. I must say I'm not holding my breath that'll will work but I would love to be

Cheers!

Hi Guy,

We are not changing anything in our demo site as we do not have the privileges to do so. By the way keep us updated if the issue still persist on your side.

Ezul, I have.
After extensive testing I conclude that there's an incompatibility issue between said browser and EasySocial. I've provided three separate sites running EasySocial namely:

Your demo site
JA demo site
And last but not least my own

Furthermore:

You've ben given three screen dumps clearly showing the fault.
You've actually been able to reproduce it
The issue has not been resolved

Apart from deleting and reinstalling Windows explorer 11 and or contacting Bill Gates himself I don't see there's much more to do other than to leave it in hopefully your capable hands to acknowledge and fix.

Thanks for your attention and understanding in advance!

Cheers!

Hi Guy,

Thanks for the heads up on the issue. I've been trying to reproduce the result in my local machine itself but I am not able to reproduce the issue for now. I will keep on trying and hopefully will able to provide the fix in the next release of easysocial.

Ezrul, The next release

This for me is a serious issue. Not being able to write to the stream in probably one of the internets most used browsers and a key feature of EasySocial, WOW!

Let me remind you that Arlex Wong was able to see and reproduce this bug as stated here in this thread

Arlex twiddled with the template settings on my server and said it then looked good for him. However it did and does not work for me.
Moreover, how would this possibly help for the two other sites that the same issue appears in, namely: Your demo site and JoomlArt's demo site? After all, like you and Arlex, I don't have access to those sites to twiddle with the settings.

I get the feeling that as you personally can't see the bug it's not of particular importance, hence wait until the next update.

Do you think it's just my version of internet explorer and what I'm seeing and make you aware by sending you screen dumps is unique to me and nobody else?

Oh, I guess not as Arlex has confirmed he at least was able to reproduce the bug independently of me.

If of interest, why not ask who else is experiencing this bug?

- Anybody?

Cheers!

Thanks for trying to be clear, it's much appreciated. Would you please continue to be clear and explain what you are actually doing. Are you trying to customize, troubleshoot the issue on my server? I'm all for a solution albeit a hack/customization as long as it can be replicated on the live site.

However, I need to point out this issue is NOT isolated to my server and Internet Explorer 11. You see, when I surf to EasySocial and Joomlart demo sites in Explorer 11 the same issues are there too. It's poof it's nothing to do with my site. It's an issue between Internet Explorer and EasySocial.

Do you agree? If not please tell me why.

You'll see from the screen dumps from left to right EasySocial demo site and Joomlart demo site. It's very clear the write a message box does NOT work.

Cheers!

Hi Guy,

This is not an isolated problem and the fix has already been included in our repository and the global fix will be ready in the next release of easysocial.

You say "and the fix has already been included in our repository"

So how do I get this fix now?

Thanks, Guy

By the way Ezrul, in answer to your question:

Ezrul Fazwan wrote:

Yes I can certainly confirm a vast improvement but I'm not able to confirm "everything" as I'll need to conduct further testing.

I don't understand the meaning and consequences of "since this fix no applicable in simplify script yet" so what will happen when and if I change back?
"You are currently running on Development environment and your javascript files are not compressed. This will cause performance downgrade while using EasySocial."

Thanks, Guy

HEADS UP

Hi, just wanted you to know the hack/testing of this Internet Explorer 11 - EasySocial Bug you guy's have been conducting has caused some secondary issues such as mishmash of connection types over https and various js errors.

It's perfectly OK as this is a development site and you had permission to tinker

You've seen the overwhelming evidence provided by me even if it's taken more time than I would like, it's finally an official bug!

I'm beginning to understand you're not providing this fix until you roll out the next update. I guess nobody knows when that is?
In the meantime a patch would have been great, but I'm guessing too that's not going to happen either?

Anyhow, I need to return to my paid day job. I've backed up and rolled back to where I was before your tinkering and removed access for now. I assume you'll conduct further squishing of this bug using your own servers and resources.

If against the odds you do get a working patch and or happen to know when an update of EasySocial 1.4.4 is likely to be, please let me know.

Cheers! /Guy

Hi Guy,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

Thank you for your concern and kind input towards this issue. We will conduct a proper testing with IE and Edge browser in the future release of all of our products to eliminate any potential issue such as this one.

I don't understand the meaning and consequences of "since this fix no applicable in simplify script yet"

The simplified script will only be release only when the newer version has been released as it include all the js script compiled into one file in for optimization purpose. However I've recompiled the script from my end and upload it to your server and you should be able to use back production mode from your backend > easysocial > settings > system settings, http://screencast.com/t/AdPd4q9jLph with the latest fix that I've applied earlier on your site.

Hope these help.
