On easysocial users view there are buttons to sort by recent registrations or alphabetical. Why is the alphabetical button icon a "fire?" My users don't understand what it is unless they accidentally put their mouse over it.
Hi Tim,
I am sorry for the delay of this reply. Ah, its actually a mistake made by us where the correct icon was mis-placed between 'sort by recent registered' and 'sort by alphabetical'. The correct one should be
sort by recent registered - using 'fire' icon,
sort by alphabetical - using 'bar' icon.
We've fixed this internally and the fix will be added into next release of EasySocial
Hi Randall. I had cleared the cache several times recently due to issues with the update to 1.2. However, did it once more for good measure! Perhaps we are talking about different things, so I'm attaching an image!
Unfortunately, I think even with the change you indicate, this will still be a problem for my English-speaking clients.
'fire' does not (in my opinion) closely associate with the concept of "recent registration," being intrepreted more as "hot" or "popular"
'bar' might be interpreted as "data", "statistics", "graph" or something similar, and does not seem to indicate "alphabetical ordered"
I think perhaps you are the victim of a trend in interface design that thinks we need to throw icons everywhere (perhaps to aid in reducing the need to "translate" for other languages?). Unfortunately, this is more like the old "mystery meat" navigation principle. I think these buttons would be far more effective if they were just text that spelled out what happens when you click. "sort: recently registered | alphabetical"
I only bring this up because it has been asked several times by my users.
Thanks for the heads up. I will discuss with the team again and see if we can use a more appropriate icons for the user sorting filter or not
Thank again and have a nice day
