Whole site has slowed incredibly

The site I am putting together for a client has suddenly become incredibly slow. I saw the other issue regarding speed and I don't have that plugin as far as I can see. Is there something else going on here?

It's taking up to 40 seconds to load a page.

Hey Obelia,

I believe there is something not right with your hosting's end because just by accessing the back end alone, it took nearly 5s for the login page to load http://screencast.com/t/ci6WoLK2e

It does not make any sense at all because the login page does not invoke any plugins / extensions.
