EasySocial Dating Search.

It says, EasySocial dating search module that allow your user to search for other users based on their dating search preference.

How, or where can a user find this option to set their dating search preference?

Thanks
Hi Anthony,

The preferences is actually located inside the dating search module itself. You can find the module from your backend > extension manager > module manager > mod_easysocial_dating_search, http://screencast.com/t/sYLhLtvx .

Hope these help.

Hi.

So only the admin can select preference which will be standard for the entire site?

Individual users can't select own preference just incase they do or do not want to show up in this search?

The setting preference that Ezrul mention is actually the module settings preference and yes, the module setting will be applied where the module display on your site.

If your user do not want themself to be searchable by other people, your user can edit their privacy setting and set the privacy 'profile searching' to 'Me Only'. Please see screencast.com/t/MV85pGyP

Hope this help and have a nice day!

That's great that there is a method for users to be able to hide themselves, however this isn't so obvious to many. Especially considering the large number of privacy options. For users in any relationship it doesn't make a lot of sense to display them on the dating module result list. Take for example if my profile had the Relationship Status set to "Engaged", it would not make a lot of sense for me to show up on the dating list. Same principles for many of the other options. The dating module should be filtered to display only people with the status of "Single, Separated, and Widowed". I won't speak for the "Divorced" status.

By doing this, the search module will be much more effective at finding people who are wanting a relationship by reducing clutter. This will also help save trouble to the people already in a relationship by not receiving requests from others which in some cases may make someone more inclined to leave the site (based on how many people bug them). Don't want to show up on the dating list? Don't go out in public saying that you are single. The same is arguably true in the real world.

In addition to these benefits, it can help non dating sites who want a simple option for users to hide themselves from a people finder list. Of course the language constant would need to be changed so that it didn't seem dating related.

A voice page for this should be created and linked back here. Would you like the honors of doing this? If you create one, you'll have to be sure to mention the Relationship Status custom field in how that should influence your eligibility of showing up on the dating module to give more accurate results.

I think we've said enough here to trigger an interest for an update with these features.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

When you install EasySocial it should install the module as well. Perhaps you want to try to re-install EasySocial and ensure that the module is ticked?

By the way, please start a new thread if you are still having issues with this
