The ordering of "inheritance" is as following (The greater the number, the higher the precedence)

1) Settings > Layout > Post Options
2) Category > [Your category the post is posted into] > Post Options
3) Menu Post Options

If you want to define it at global level, you can do it at #1 . Keep in mind that the category would also need to be inherited. This behavior is similar to how Joomla article params behave.

I have it set to "hide" at both 1 and 2, the menu option is "inherit" but the hits still display.

What about your category? There is a bug in 5.0.16, you might need to set this to inherit from settings in the category and save it again.

Yes, I had checked the category as well. I edited again and forced the Hide on the category. I can't check as there is an error on the site, likely you trying to fix the "print" icon issue.

Thanks for updating, glad that your issues are resolved now. By the way, if you update to 5.0.17, the category "inherit from settings" option has been fixed and you don't have to re-save the categories.
