Many of my blog posts are short enough not to warrant a click through to read more yet they are still racking up hits. My question is when is a hit registered? Is it when the dedicated blog post page itself is viewed? Do items receive individual hits when the frontpage itself is viewed? Any illumination most welcome, thanks.
Hello Stuart,

Yes, that is correct. When the full entry view is being viewed, it will then record it as a "hit".

It it done by unique IP address?

A client asked as he thought people were reading the blog, but hits weren't alwats registering.

Hello David,

If the settings for session awareness is enabled in EasyBlog, a hit is only recorded once if you view the page with the same browser even if you refresh it a billion times

If the settings for session awareness is disabled, then it will record a billion hits if you refresh the page a billion times.

Is there a way to incorporate IP Address & Session Tracking in this new version?

Hey Kevin,

Yep, and it is already built-in the core by default. In prior releases, it was configurable but we removed the settings since everyone needs to have this enabled.

Excellent, thanks. I find that it is virtually impossible to accurately count hits. It's best to just use Google Analytics.

Yep, that is correct Kevin. We do not have a massive database unlike Google where it has a billion of different user agents which they know which needs to be excluded

No worries. Adding the Google UI is very simple. In my experience, I'm noticing even the most popular blogs, Huffpost, TMZ even the Google blog, Keyword, do not display blog hits anymore.

Yep, that is right and I think moving forward, hits is going to be really obsolete.
