I am getting frustrated with template developer bloatware, component compatibility issues, and the same old same old crappy designs. I am looking for a clean template that works with the following components:

1. EasyBlog 3
2. EasyDiscuss 2.0
3. JomSocial 2.4.2

Any feedback or recommendations appreciated, as I am looking for an alternative before I am forced to renew my current template provider.

Randall
Any body else got input for a good template developer. For me support is the most important thing. I have been spoilt here at Stackideas as I usually get a fix within 24 hours. I have been mailing with support from a template developer for 10 days now trying to get a simple module issue cleared up and it is just a complete waste of time and energy?

would be grateful for any tips

thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

I started with Joomlart and have gone through most of them over the past year with support always being a major problem (yes we are spoilt here, I know....) but returned to Joomlart at the start of 2014 when they made considerable improvements to support and also brought out the excellent Purity III that works with T3v3 and Bootstrap 3 that EasySocial is now on as well as all Stackideas products, MijoShop and JReviews without any issues.

It may not suit everyone but it works for me and I think they have finally got the right approach after a lot of negative feedback last year.

When it comes to template providers, the majority of them love to sell you a subscription, but they don't provide the level of support that most people expect.

I am using Rockettheme templates and I have to say their support is mediocre at best. I like many things about their templates, but some things are just a pain in the a&$.

I do not believe any Template provider will ever offer the same level of support as the support we all receive from StackIdeas Team.

I have come to the conclusion that I am left to my own devices to fix the issues with the template I am using, and that I can't expect the same type of support that I get from StackIdeas.

Hi Richard

Thanks for your reply. MijoShop and JReviews. Now that sounds like an interesting combination. Would you mind telling me which template you are using and posting a link to your Site. This is my site here:

http://finalbug.net/

I used to be a theme from icethemes but it only supported Joomla 2.5 and I want to upgrade at some point. So I recently changed. I am currently on a Joomlashine theme. They have actually helped me a lot now as I complained. But I do not want to have to play the idiot in order to get results. I think when my 4 months support are up I will change at the very latest!!! Possibly too Joomlart

thanks

Paul

@ Randal

"I have come to the conclusion that I am left to my own devices to fix the issues with the template I am using, and that I can't expect the same type of support that I get from StackIdeas."

Sad but probably true. I must have bought 10 templates to date. What I can not stand is the slow reaction and the speed with which some of these template providers try to push the support issue to another support provider eg Stackideas. Just been dealing with this today!

http://stackideas.com/forums/tag-cloud-module#reply-126378

It cost me 3 hours of my life and 2 Stackideas support people were also involved in the mess!!!

Hi Paul,

I am using Purity III ( see Joomlart Blog ) and although I have time left on subscriptions with most of the major template providers, will not be looking elsewhere as I consider it to be one of the best releases in the past year - up to date, works out of the box with all components I use on all devices, very flexible and now with very good support (not Stackideas level but still 4 Star).

The site is not officially live as we are doing some api testing for MijoShop and JReviews but it will be up at the end of the week and I will certainly post a link for you here.

@Randall,

If you take a look at Joomlart/Purity III I think you will be be pleasantly surprised at the support, either forum or ticket, it used to be slow but is now within 24 hours.

OK thanks for that. I might just make the jump. My last support experience was so painful that I actually changed the admin log in password after the issue got "solved." It got solved but the way it got solved was not cool. 3 wrongs do not make a right Every one was pissed off afterwards.

I´ve built an excel table for my module positions with links etc and could probably make the switch in a couple of hours!!!

Looking forward to your link

No problem, take a look at the MijoShop Purity III Blog and T3v3 Framework in the meantime.

Gavick just release magazine, a free responsive joomla template. I don't know for Gavick support i don"t use it. My preference goes to Joomlart even if the support is not lived up to my expectations.

I tried Purity after seeing this post and it was a nightmare getting things set up without using the quick start package. Documentation isn't user friendly and is geared towards more seasoned Joomla user. Quick start makes things easier but will not work with existing sites looking to inherit Purity.

Sorry, I'm spoiled with how things work for wordpress.

I am sorry to hear that Peter, I am only using the template and t3v3 plugin (not quickstart) on an existing site and it worked with very little style adjustment and no problems with content 'slotting in'.

The documentation is complete now apart from FAQ, perhaps that will help.

Maybe the solution is using a no stackideas extensions support template and let explain the power of Stackideas template ?

@ Richard if you see this, I am still curious to see the Site that you are working on.

Am also curious about your MijoShop & MijoVideos combination as I am running a Video Users Group and am obviously curious about all things video!

best

Hi Paul,

Apologies, I was a bit optimistic on timing, hoping ES 1.2 would have been available by end of Feb (obviously looking at it positively the delay is fine as Stackideas end result is always top quality) before proceeding to take a look at MijoShop videos, so am aiming for later in March now, but will post link here as soon as it moves from local to an official live site.

Hi Richard

I decided to give Purity another try with a brand new database and install of Joomla and already ran into issues with ES

Already cleared cache and even tried with two different browsers. Are you seeing the same thing or am I just having bad luck again?

Hi Peter,

This is the login/register view for a visitor I have, using Joomla 3.2.2, Purity III v 1.0 (Stable), T3v3 Framework v 2.1.2, EasySocial v 1.1.6 and adjusted for JFBConnect Social buttons. The JFBConnect changes are only layout movements and do not have any impact on the initial integration with EasySocial v 1.1.6, which should be automatic and show the standard Unity View login menu (this image with JFBConnect buttons) above the stream and a menu item as well as padlock icon on the ES toolbar and a search field.

It should be a process of install quickstart followed by install ES via extension manager and everything should be automatically working, what versions are you using?

Hi Richard

I tested with ES 1.2 so maybe the RC version has some problems with Purity. I'll try it on 1.1.6 when I get the chance.

Thanks!

Maybe StackIdeas can develop a paid template integrating EasyBlog, EasyDiscuss, EasyBlog and Komento ?
